Ice’s situation with his girlfriend and the mother of his child is normal to me. My mom and my step mom (who had been with my dad for 25 years now) are good friends. We don’t do separate holidays and celebrations. Anything my mom has, they’re invited to and anything my dad and stepmom have, my mom is invited to. My mom’s new boyfriend lives in another state and on Mother’s Day, they put together an outing to a minor league baseball game and my dad and step mom were invited. And on top of that, I was there with my husband, my son, my two step sons and their mom. I’m friends with my stepsons mom (my husband’s ex wife). We sit together and sporting events, she babysits my two year old when my husband and I go out for a date night or a concert or whatever. My son thinks that’s his aunt. We had a cookout last night for Fourth of July and my husband told me she was coming. He didn’t even ask me because he knows she’s always welcome. She and I sat together and ate and caught up. I more think of it as my friend coming over than my stepsons mom coming over. Anyone who has a child with someone they’re not in a relationship with and don’t have this type of relationship, I feel bad for because I know how hard that must be. I’ve seen it with other people in my family and it’s so hard for the kids especially.
