Important Patreon Update: New Starter Pack and Subscription Changes

Hello friends!

Next month, we’ll have several changes, so I wanted to tell you about them in advance.

First, we’re updating the Starter Pack

Instead of the current 5 models, the new Starter Pack will include 7 new models, which we’ll choose from the releases of the past year.

If you haven’t saved the link to the current Starter Pack yet, I recommend doing it now. After the update, the current Starter Pack will no longer be sent to new subscribers, and it will be replaced by the new one. The link to the current Starter Pack will continue to work, so you’ll still be able to use it at any time.

Second, we’re switching to Patreon’s new subscription billing system. This change will affect only new subscribers

Patreon is moving all creators to a billing system based on the date a subscription starts. This system will become mandatory for everyone in November, but we decided not to wait and to try implementing it now.

How will it work?

Every new subscriber will automatically receive a welcome message with a link to the Starter Pack, as well as 7 separate links to the models available at the moment they subscribe, no matter which day of the month they join.

After that, everything will work as a rolling release system.

For example, 7 models are currently available: 1 → 2 → 3 → 4 → 5 → 6 → 7
A new model 8 is released: 2 → 3 → 4 → 5 → 6 → 7 → 8
The next model 9 is released: 3 → 4 → 5 → 6 → 7 → 8 → 9

This means the list will always consist of the latest 7 available models.

When each new model is released, all active subscribers will immediately receive a private message with the download link and a Cults3D code for that model.

This means we’ll move away from the old system with two permanent release links. Instead, the links and codes will gradually accumulate in your private message history, so access to all models you received during your active subscription will remain available even after they disappear from the current list.

According to my calculations, after switching to the new system, you will receive the same number of models as before.

To be honest, I’m also a little worried about this transition, because this is a completely new system for us. I hope everything works as planned, and that the new format will be more convenient for both you and us.

Third, we decided to slightly update the visual style of our Patreon

Together with our concept artist, we prepared new banners, release layouts, model lists, and other images in one consistent style. You’ll see all of this next month.

The links are still in the post. They're also duplicated in your private messages. Wishing you a speedy recovery!

I did like the way you separated one on your files up by Merged/Split/Bust into different folder like for the John Wick on goggle drive. Maybe you can continue to do that going forward. I will say i also have my concerns with this rolling method, but interested to see in action.

I’m just a tad confused. Do I have to unsubscribe then resubscribe to take advantage of the new starter pack?

No, the new starter pack will be available at the start of next month; the old one is currently available

Where's the link to the old starter pack?

h

In a post containing links to monthly releases

So when my subscription starts, I gain access to the previous 7 models, plus the ones that release in the month I subscribe? Or just for the releases after I subscribe? Mostly wondering because I typically subscribe after a model I want was released

When your subscription starts (for example, on the day a particular model is released), you’ll receive the seven most recent models (including the one that’s just been released) plus the seven models due to be released

Now I'll need to resubscribe to get the new starter pack, all figures I don't have. Hahaha Actually already have the year sub and lovin' it.

So if I really want that Cthulhu model when is the best time to sign up? Now or when the changes take place?

Early next month. There’ll be a post (I think on the 2nd), and then you’ll be able to get the models from the new starter pack

Let me suggest a different approach based on a few other creators I support. It's not superior, just another way to tackle this. Instead of offering the last X models, which is tricky because the number of models can change month by month (generally when there are bonuses) and the release dates can vary, you can offer the supporter the models released on the last 31 days at the time of subscription. This way the supporter will get the "previous month" just like it is today, and should not feel short changed in any way. If you guys can have a very strict release window and account for the varying number of models in the month, your approach can work just fine, but that restricts the flexibility. I don't know any creator that does the approach you guys are planning (100+ STL focused creators that I support or checked in the past), so it might be confusing for the supporters.

I’ve seen this approach, and what I don’t like about it is that you have to wait until the end of the month to get the models. I’ll try to stick to seven models a month; if there are any changes to the number (i.e. a different number each month), I’ll remove models based on their publication date. In any case, Patreon is forcing us to switch to this system

So the links in our DMs will never expire? So we can download our models in a year if we want to, even if we've dropped our subscription?

h

Yes, that’s right, that’s how it works now. It’s just that I used to send out links to the monthly releases at the end of the month (they’re all still active), but now there’ll be separate links for each character after their release
