September Vocal Seminar
Hey, friends!
September 28th, I will be doing seminar #2, probably around 19:00 eastern time.
Please put the topics you are interested in learning about in the comments of this post! Whichever ones get mentioned the most or whichever ones get the most likes are the topics I will cover. I will try to keep things 45-60 minutes.
October, I will not be doing a seminar because the first two weeks, I will be resting my voice for tour prep, and then I will be on tour for the month's latter half, so seminar #3 will be around November's end.
Cheers!

I don't even know what to ask that's not already in the course and I can't do the question justice over text. Perhaps if you could show some cool new things you've been working on, that would be awesome. Or if you could do a group lesson with say 6 intermediates and we all rotate in and compare and contrast over the course of an hour, that would be a sweet format.
I would love to hear more about more punchy hardcore style false cord with a voice behind it. Something like the guy from Knosis or The Ghost Inside.
I do not necessarily have a topic for this round but I have two production requests: 1) Please hold your technique demonstrations longer! I'm replaying the same 1-2 seconds over and over again just to barely hear whats up. This was extreme in #0 but still relevant throughout #1 2) Please find a solution to the different volume levels. Speaking is very quiet compared to the rest. Thanks! :D
I can definitely hold the screams longer so you can hear the textures and whatnot, but there is not much I can do about my speaking voice being way quieter than my screams, other than running my mic through an outboard compressor. The problem with that is that you are no longer getting a raw vocal demonstration; you are getting a compressed signal, which can be misleading because some techniques ARE much louder or quieter than others.
Would love to learn more about how to properly sing with distortion, not necessarily screaming, but more about adding that raspy quality to the voice while singing.
Do you have an artist in mind? I never know what people mean by rasp. Nickelback?
I think a seminar on the topic of writing vocals for songs would be awesome, things such as lyrical and/or rhythmic structure, variety of vocal technique, and understanding how it all fits into a song contextually. That would be very interesting!
Yes please! Would be very interested in this one
id be really interested to hear more about false cord in falsetto and how that works, maybe some sound examples too. also how to build control with false cord as a singing distortion, e.g. controlling the texture or the distortion to voice ratio. p.s. these seminars are awesome, really great addition to the course.
