Nine Years of KamaDevaSFM — A Birthday Thank You
Today is my 38th birthday. It also marks nine years of KamaDevaSFM .
Some of you have supported me for five, six, or even seven of those years.
I opened my patreon roughly almost a year later after my first supporter and fan helped me make it happen . I remember that days clearly when I reached my first 60.000 views (not per video) Patreon ( Crowdfunding per se ) was merely accepted for 2-3 years as legal in Germany that time so I was hesitant to make one .
That is honestly difficult for me to comprehend. When you work continuously, sitting close to the same computer every day with complete tunnel vision, you rarely stop long enough to see the road behind you.
But when I finally take a step back and look through my video gallery, I sometimes think:
“Damn… I created more than two hours of fan fiction here.”
And that is only one series. Somehow, that is both ridiculous and incredibly beautiful to me.
A Lot Can Change in Nine Years
Over these nine years, the internet changed dramatically. I remember when Tumblr banned NSFW content and an enormous part of the adult art community suddenly lost its home. Artists scattered, many of us moving to Twitter—now X—and attempting to rebuild everything we had created . I stepped on Newgrounds and I'm still there with many VAs I still work with.
I remember my hub account reaching more than 40 million views around 2020. It was a surreal milestone, but the numbers were never the complete story . The real story was what happened to me creatively during those years .Funfact : The first anims. I published were very much influenced by MickeyMack who is also a content creator I know from the past ,which lead to our Harley Quinn series.
Becoming More Than an Smut Animator
When I began producing my Resident Evil projects, I slowly realized that I was becoming more than somebody assembling adult scenes. I was developing as a director and composing scenes .
In the beginning, many of my ideas were combinations of random fantasies and fetishes, especially futa-on-female content . But over time, I began asking myself what else these films could become.
Why are these characters here?
Why are they attracted to one another?
Why are they fighting?
Why do they fuck
... and how can I make that moment feel intense, meaningful, or memorable?
Most adult animation only needs to reach the seggs scene part. That is usually what the audience came to see. Spending weeks creating a fight sequence may not produce more views or financial success. Yet I kept doing it because I wanted to grow as person and artist .
If you do just one thing, you never encounter more challenges and it becomes dull and looses passive skills that actually gave you that different view and use other ingridients on a scene.
For example Alien (1) is a horror thriller while AlienS is more action. Terminator 1 and Terminator 2 are both sequels but the view is changed and we started to define the role differently . If you think of sequels nowadays it just means ,it becomes "bigger and better".
Don't missunderstand me , Im not comparing myself here, its the change of view .
I wanted every project to challenge me and force me to pull something new out of myself.
Your support gave me the privilege of exploring those ideas.
I started to take more seriously in how can tell the same act we all know and used to be in a more exciting way.
It allowed a few models standing in an empty digital space to gradually become something larger: the dominant Futa Sheeva, Lady Dimitrescu reimagined as a powerful Dracula-like mistress, the world of Orclust, or Barry infiltrating an Umbrella facility and fighting his way through five HUNK agents in a John Woo-inspired action sequence.
Many of these characters began as fan-fiction ideas inside my head, but they eventually became archetypes that I still carry with me.
Some projects received less attention than I wanted to give them or simply bombed . Blue Stripes is one example of 2 months of work and a lot to learn as a content creator .Metal Gear series which had a span of 21 got flagged and stopped my income here . Orclust still follow me everywhere demanding to be continued . Sometimes like unfinished ghosts in my head . I admit that openly. It doesnt feel good when you have infinished ideas and projects . From the outside it maybe looks like I just "forgot" them. When my progress on Orclust II stagnated, part of that creative energy transformed into Futa Sheeva. I spent an enormous amount of time developing her from concept arts and personal ideas because the exact character I imagined simply did not exist anywhere else .
When Models Become Characters
That moment, when a model stops feeling like a model and becomes a character—is still magical to me.
A voice actress can give that character a personality . Suddenly, a collection of polygons has a personality, history, rhythm, and presence.I even often re-animate the manerism to the voice work I recieved. Most visible in the older Harley series .I could make double the quality with no lines and people will and have contacted me about "where the dirty lines man " :D
Without your support, I would never... and I mean never have met many of the voice actors and creative partners I know today. Some of them also have successful SFW careers or professional Voice Acting careers for video game companies and increasingly busy schedules. Every now and then, I hear one of their voices unexpectedly in an indie game, and I become excited like a child because I recognize them immediately .
I am incredibly proud of them.
One time, I have managed to bring six different collaborators together to help transform something that began as a horny thought in my head into an actual film. Writing those voice script ,making this match the scenes and plot . That is still remarkable to me .
The People You Meet Along the Way
Before KamaDevaSFM, I spent roughly a year attempting to establish myself in 2d art, and it was lonely. It reqiures huge knowledge as content creator and a lot of luck even back then to land in the YT algorhytm . I was overworked very quickly and to this day remember how my finger hurt from drawing into a tablet . Figures, fighting games never had much friction in marketing which inudstries notice now in closing studios with a 3-1month life span of well made fighting game.10 years ago I thought "I either focus on marvel fight or Dragon Ball Z" but I dont come from that genre. I grow up differently. I had talent and passion, but talent does not automatically introduce you to the right people . Skill does not build relationships for you. Meeting people who walk a similar path takes time...valuable time.
Oh yea and sure I met people in that time . The guy who mocapped Kratos , a successful 3d animator in his early step working in the youtube channel where gaming heroes duel themself writing me personally "keep going man ,looks good" I had 200 views back then.
You have to remain committed through success and failure because both determine who you meet and the fuel that later never dries out (pun not intended) .
When you experience only success, sharks begin to circle around you . During failures or less successful decisions, however, you sometimes meet people who share your struggle, understand your goals, and genuinely want to help one another .Somebody successful always has multiple talents and skills .
Looking back, I am strangely grateful that not everything in my career worked perfectly.
From Source Filmmaker to Blender
There were difficult years. I was frequently unprepared, and I overworked myself far too often. Some of you may remember when I stopped using Source Filmmaker and confidently thought:
“I will learn Blender in three months. No problem.”
Why ? The scene complexion I started forced the software to crash every 5-10mins. 12 fps work view. I knew I reached my limit with that programm .It took me about a year+ .
Even then, I would never say that I had “finished learning” Blender or completely solved it. If anything, that year after taught me how much more there was to learn and how much more I could create .
Blender allowed me to make things feel more tangible. I could work more deeply with light, shadow, reflections, atmosphere, materials, and entire environments.
So perhaps the most important thing I learned was simply that I was capable of learning more. And trust me , Blender , many beginners know this, has a very steap lerning curve.
For me, learning is not only about collecting technical knowledge. It is a key moment of understanding and goes hand in hand with experiencing . Blender became far more than another tool that I needed for my work .I spend weeks and months with just modelling and working on the texture shader, waiting my hand and muscle memories adapts to the hotkeys I needed to work effectively I did in SFM ...and they were all different hotkeys xD
It became a vibe.
Do not misunderstand me: moving to Blender was a major step forward, and that upgrade was necessary if I wanted to realize the cinematic ideas I was beginning to plan, animate, and produce. Blender was the logical next stage of that development .You can never explore or re-discover adult artwork enough . Videogames made that possible . The best example to me came from an asian friend wo said "western adult movies are too performative" There is no secret dynamic or relevant plot. It vanished for a time . Im happy it slowly comes back.
It doesnt have to be much but enough otherwise its just looks like a work-out video .
Until then, however, I still thought of myself as just another “SFM artist”—or, as many people described me, a “futa artist.” Even today, people continue to call me an SFM artist without necessarily knowing what SFM is or what it means as a creative tool.
Source Filmmaker has been the entry point for countless artists. Some creators who still use it may look at highly polished productions and assume that truly professional work is reserved for a chosen few. They may believe that you need industry connections, that you must be a nepo baby, or that you need a university degree in art or animation before you are allowed to reach that level . I dont think so but I think in parts . In moments.
Blender has an enormous amount of potential. When it is used well, an ordinary viewer may not even recognize whether a production was created in Blender, Maya, or another industry-standard animation or VFX program.
I kept “SFM” in my name because it shows where I came from.
I did not come from an environment where opportunities, resources, or connections were simply handed to me.
I do not mention this to ask for sympathy. I mention it because it is part of the path that brought me here which Im grateful .
Blender is vast, and its possibilities are greater than anything I can currently imagine. I believe it will give me results that I cannot yet picture,as long as I continue learning, experimenting, and following the process.
People sometimes look at an adult scene and think:
“ It is a simple setup. What is there to brainstorm? ”
The key is consistency breaching out of that treshold .When I hold that threshold for me to add more dialogues, the manerism started get more important, finding out archetype personlities (the dom, the submissive, gestures) . You barely hit that moment when you only stay in a looped movement. You will get very good but people also remember things in memories . I do that atleast . Its just my approach . Everybody thinks different.
A few voice lines, a seggs scene, and an ending may be enough for someone else. For me, that has gradually become the minimum starting point or keyscene. Your support frequently gave me the momentum and freedom to create something much larger.Shaping plots, adding and brainstorming roles . Watching older movies finding these archetypes and thinking how they would be intimate on camera .
What Your Support Means to Me
You gave me time.
You gave me access to talented collaborators.
Most importantly, you gave me your trust.
Receiving money from another person because they trust that I will continue growing as an artist means an immense amount to me. I do not view these nine years as something I was automatically entitled to. I do not look at your support and think, “Of course I deserved this.”
I see people giving another person a chance.
That is something I will never take for granted.
Thank you .
Thank you for supporting me through the successful releases, unfinished ideas, technical disasters, ambitious experiments, slow periods, personal struggles, and the moments when I attempted projects far beyond what I realistically knew how to accomplish.
This came into my mind when I was browsing ...for research and still find old works of me on some random..."scientific research sites" and think "man I never uploaded this here and its available with 50.00-150.000 I never seen it or was even aware of it . I created a footprint.
I'm writing this because we all have moments we feel small in our tiny world and dont matter until we notice. If that one fan 2017 never dm'ed me, I would never try out patreon and she literally assisted me in how to run it , answer people as a content creator and we never talked after 2021 I think. How random is that ? People just go their own paths. So I take nothing for granted. .. and I always get a bit emotional on birthdays, sorry :D
Thank you for motivating me to continue.
Thank you for trusting my strange ideas.
And thank you for staying beside me.
I am looking forward to the coming years and, hopefully, many more long-form films. If producing another 10- or 15-minute animation is not immediately possible, please do not be angry with me. I will continue doing everything I can to make every minute count.
I kept silence in the past weeks and working on getting that budget to finally continue work on my RE episodes . I went to 2 years of old tax documents and it seems like I could get ALOT back. Perfect to finish both RE-Episodes Im lacking to progress. So far it looks promising but I dont wanna jinx it. Im merely staying affload with a backpipe of around 22min unpublished animation and even more pre-production work of things I want to publish.
what is this comic ? Why is this male guy in yellow black color maybe look like Batgirl before she enters Harley laboraty with Black Canary as prisoner ? Nobody knows :D
My Ninth Anniversary
To celebrate my 38th birthday and the ninth anniversary of KamaDevaSFM, I am opening an anniversary support tier .
This tier will be available only during this anniversary month. They include one special thank-you image and nothing else. There are no hidden rewards and no expectation that anyone should join. They simply exist for those who would like to make an additional anniversary gesture and help support the next chapter of my work.
Your regular support already means more to me than I can properly express.
Here is to nine years of fantasies, filmmaking, strange experiments, hard lessons, unforgettable characters, and dirty ideas that somehow became real productions .
And to many more glorious years together.
Thank you for believing in me.

Happy birthday, and congratulations on 9 years. It's been a blast being a fan of yours. Getting to watch you progress and your creative process evolve has been amazing. I hope you have an amazing year. Thank you for the wonderful animations you've given us
Thank you KamaDevaSFM! Your work really is incredible and to read your thought processes and the history of how you got here is awesome. Adult works are often trapped in the perspective of seggs and gratification, which are valid in what they do, but hearing more about the artistic depth that creators strive for and put into the work truly elevates the seggs into fantastic art. Sure it can be a "it's not that deep" kind of industry, but viewers often disregard that for art to be created with quality, the artists invest in making their art so deeply. Whether it's from a technical standpoint (pushing the limits of the software) or cinematic (artists like you that develop the characters & setting), or some other reason, adult art is still art. I like the works that are seggs loops, and I like the art that are several minute+ of actual characters and scenes that are connected, *plus* the gratification of great seggs scenes. It's always difficult to be an artist because the world is built on making a lot at a cheap price. Bigger companies can produce so much quantity cheaply that people are turned away from spending more. For the individual artist, it often means lowering your monetary value to be able to compete. Hearing your financial struggles just to stay afloat really puts that in perspective. Plus you make Adult Works so people, at least publicly, often stigmatise your content. And then the internet pr0n culture of reposting so the content is free. Sometimes it seems like even the audience of Adult Work is just as disrespectful of the artists as outsiders who judge. I'm glad to support your work. I personally enjoy the content you create, and after hearing different artists talk about their processes and understanding how much work goes into one completed project, I'm glad that I can support your development. It takes a lot of failures to make a good success and the periods of failure still need to be supported. So as a fan, I am glad that you have been able to make a career and to continue to contribute to it. Thank you for sharing your words with us. I'm sure there are folks only here for the completed works (totally valid, not knocking on y'all) but as someone interested in all of your creative process, your Patreon is awesome. Here's to many more years of your art, for you to be able to create it as well as fans being able to support you 🥂 and of course: happy birthday & anniversary!! ♥️
