PsyAmb 154 - Alien Agenda [ Mix Download ]

The whole business of UFOs has fascinated me ever since I was a kid, probably because I spent far too many evenings staring out of the bedroom window into the dark, half expecting some curious little flicker of light to dart across the sky and confirm that the universe had more going on than we’d been told. There was always something wonderfully unsettling about it all. Not frightening exactly, just mysterious, with a faint suspicion that the punchline had not yet been revealed.

And it does leave one with a few rather awkward questions, doesn’t it. What, if anything, is really out there. Are we just one tiny broadcast in an impossibly vast cosmic frequency range, or are there other signals drifting through the static waiting to be tuned in. And then there is the slightly more peculiar thought that UFOs might not be from distant planets at all, but perhaps slipping in from somewhere a bit closer to home, just at a different angle of reality entirely. A sort of transdimensional popping in and out, which is either a thrilling possibility or a deeply inconvenient one, depending on how tidy you like your universe.

This mix takes a gentle drift through that territory. It is a psybient / psydub transmission shaped by those questions with strange textures and the sort of sonic spaces that seem to hover just beyond easy explanation. The tracks themselves have been collected over the past thirty years. Some are obscure, some well known and all chosen because they carry that peculiar sense of wonder of the cosmic void.

So dim the lights, keep the receiver open, and see what comes through. If something does arrive, do try to remain calm and avoid making any sudden philosophical conclusions.

For the YouTube version of this mix I took some time to add a new illustration time-lapse so be sure to check that out some time too.

A sincere thank you to everyone on Patreon for your continued support, it really does help keep these transmissions coming through. Your backing means a great deal and ensures the journey carries on.

Cheers,

PsyAmb
