Hi, I recently tried the free Sugoi Manga Translator extension and was genuinely impressed — translations felt natural, were placed cleanly in the bubbles, and it handled material other tools tend to filter. Really solid work. Reading through this V2/V11 update made me consider subscribing to access Sugoi Desktop V2, but before doing so I'd like to clear up a couple of things I couldn't find clear answers to: 1. Quality parity Cloud vs Desktop — is the translation model in Sugoi Desktop V2 the same one powering Sugoi Cloud V11, or a lighter variant? I'd like to know whether I should expect equivalent output quality locally before committing. 2. Extension + local backend — is there a way to point the Sugoi Manga Translator extension (the one doing in-image translation with bubble detection, inpainting and re-rendering) at a locally-running Sugoi Desktop V2 instead of Sugoi Cloud? Being able to lean on my own hardware for unlimited translation during heavier reading sessions, while keeping the full in-image extension experience, would be ideal. On the hardware side, I'm on an NVIDIA GPU setup — could you share the recommended requirements (RAM, VRAM, CUDA version) for Sugoi Desktop V2 to run smoothly? These points would tip my decision either way, so any clarity would help a lot. Thanks for the work.
Hey, appreciate your reply 1. I'm using online LLM for the cloud, to get the absolute best quality nowadays, it's either chatGPT, Claude, or Gemini. Local model are nowhere near as good, especially when you take into account context. But there are many reasons to use an offline model, and you can use any through LM studio, not necessary my translation models. 2. Extension with local program is on my todo list 3. GPU support for Sugoi Desktop is coming but not available yet. Sugoi Toolkit does support GPU though
