Upcrafting

Hello ghouls,

Are you in the spooky spirit yet? Ask me how many nightmares I've had about backrooms? and how I'm activley avoiding my basement eeeeeee!!

October is insane over here, per ujjjjjjj!! Its filled with all good things, but still just very filled haha.

This week I am watching The Craft, Split and The RING! I do have to say I am pretty excited about Split-I really liked Unbreakable and that concept and I really like James Mcavoy! The Ring I am quite very nervous for

The Scary movie bracket has been so fun to watch-We are down to the final TWO-They Live and The Mist and it is still very close with a few hours left! Can't wait to see what wins....or maybe I can :( My horror loving friend said The Mist might break me gggaaahhhhh

I wanted to remind you of our HORROR TRIVIA NIGHT OCTOBER 27th.

We are still trying our best to get these YT uploads up, Tropic thunder got a whole 4 hours! DOH! The good news is a lot of the horror movies are not Paramount ha ha!

Thanks for everything, have a spooky sweet weekend!

A couple of more weeks for scary movies. I assume next week is "The Mist". Hoping Cassie also watches the runner-up "They Live". I think Cassie has a few more personal scary picks coming also. Still hoping for Horror of Dracula and/or The Fog (1980).

C
Clay F · October 13, 2026

Seems unlikely she would add The Fog that lost 30%-70% in the first round of the poll. But you promoting The Fog prompted me to put The Fog on my watchlist.

C
Chris Thom · October 13, 2026

Supposedly that new Godzilla movie is getting really good reviews.

R
Richard Maurer · October 13, 2026

Godzilla Minus Zero, sequel to G-1. Great reviews actually. Some people are talking best picture Oscar. But Hollywood will never let that happen. Best foreign film maybe.

M
Mark White · October 11, 2026

Hi Cassie, so we are well into your favourite month of the year on PiB!🤡😱😆 jk It’s not a big time for me, as I’m not a big horror fan, but I’m glad for my friends on here who have been waiting all year for this. I hope that get the movies they’ve wished for. HoD!🫰 The Ring is however one of the few horrors I quite like. Now, I know this will annoy my horror friends! But I haven’t seen the original Japanese Ringu and I believe them when they say it is better in every way. However I do like the tone of the American version and the score is another Classic Hans Zimmer, very haunting. I think it’s just about the right amount of scary for non horror fans, so you may like it?! But please consider Ringu in the future for your horror heads. It’s been a rough time of late for me with work and home life making me feel exhausted. But I did have a lovely day out a couple of weeks ago with my dear friend’s daughter, taking her to NorCon, our local version of ComicCon. It was her first event and she dressed up as black widow her favourite marvel character. She has ADHD and struggles to fit in and has had a lot of problems at school with being bullied this last year. So it was super special to take her somewhere where she felt excepted and amongst others who just love to dress up and not judge others for their differences. Also, watching her confidence grow through the day was special for me too. 😊 Anywho, take care Cass and my fellow PiBers. You are the best ❤️

R
Richard Maurer · October 11, 2026

Mark - first let me say sorry you’re having a rough go of it and I’m glad you had a good day recently. About The Ring (and foreign film remakes in general) - don’t worry, as I said before I don’t get upset with the people who like The Ring or other foreign film remakes, more people are exposed to the remakes because of the Hollywood film industry’s dominance worldwide. No, my problem is with the people who make them - studios, producers, directors, writers, even the actors to a certain extent. My problem is that they are involved in something that is akin to plagiarism. Even though they pay for the film rights they are still taking someone’s else hard work, changing it slightly, and then, because many people aren’t even aware of the original till it’s pointed out to them, making money off of something that many people think is a original work. People can try to justify it however they like, but that’s still what it boils down to, and personally I cannot support that.

M
Mayhem Theater · October 11, 2026

The Ring is the worse of that list. The most lackluster watered down so called PG horror film. Even the horse in the movie jumped ship he couldn't take it. Sadly the 2000s was an era of the worse watered down movies and slapped a horror label on it

R
Richard Maurer · October 13, 2026

Can’t stand US remakes of foreign films in general but The Ring is one of the worst. Setting the story in America totally ruins the film’s plot and backstory.

C
Chad Laurence · October 11, 2026

Maybe this is the wrong place to ask this but what happened to the monsterverse stuff? You watched that 2014 Godzilla then poof, no more lol.

R
Richard Maurer · October 11, 2026

It’s probably coming back after October, I hope anyway. With “Tender November” and Christmas coming up I hope they can fit some entertaining films in.

E
ElmSt Reactions · October 11, 2026

Am I the only person that thought backrooms was just ok and not scary at all lol

R
Richard Maurer · October 11, 2026

I thought it was a bit better than okay but not scary is accurate. Until I watched Cassie’s reaction I didn’t realize there were any jump scares in it.

C
Chris Thom · October 11, 2026

Semi-unrelated, but Disclosure Day is finally free on Peacock. Just watched it yesterday. Really enjoyed it. Awesome performance by Emily Blunt.

B
Byrd N. Hand · October 11, 2026

It won't go down as being one of Spielberg's best, but I thought a lot of the critics were a bit harsh on it. Frankly, I'm still waiting for the brilliant "Fabelmans" to finally get its due. 🤔

R
Richard Maurer · October 11, 2026

I found The Craft to be fun high school teenage nonsense. Split is very good. The less said about the poor quality Ringu remake the better. I’ve already beat that dead horse, resurrected it, and beat it to death again.

M

Can't wait, the ring is my favorite horror movie and I grew up watching the craft, one could say it had quite the effect on me as a teenage boy

j

Yes! A knight of the Seven Kingdoms is so good. Much needed after the depressing shit show that was Got, and whatever the hell House of the Dragon is.

S
Stephen Dias · October 10, 2026

I saw "Split" in the last year or so (and I own "Unbreakable," so I'll probably revisit that first). "The Craft" I saw when it first came out, so it's been a while. Although I've seen a million memes and spoofs of it, I have actually never seen "The Ring." That will be interesting.

R
Richard Maurer · October 11, 2026

If you like foreign films I’d recommend watching the original Japanese Ring (Ringu) ‘98. It’s considerably better than the remake, imo.

O

C
Cole Jennett · October 10, 2026

I was looking forward to either Child’s Play or The Descent. Admittedly I hadn’t seen many of the choices, but of those I’d seen, I thought they would have made for the best reactions.

A
Annie519 · October 10, 2026

I am so excited for Split! Finally your reacting to this, I have been waiting for it ever since I discovered your channel. Especially after you've expressed how much you love James McAvoy and this is his greatest performance, it needs to be watched just for that alone. He's also incredible in Speak No Evil, very different character but he plays it so well.

F
Flounder · October 10, 2026

Please consider adding the movie Jacobs Ladder (1990) as a Halloween bonus. It’s a really special scary movie.

D
Dustin Nelson · October 10, 2026

The Ring is actually a Remake that's LESS scary than the original, Ringu! Still great though

M
Mark White · October 11, 2026

I like The Ring. I haven’t seen The original, but the horror fans speak very highly of it, so I hope Cassie gets to it one day.

N
Nick Ireland · October 10, 2026

You'll love The Craft. Just be grateful you're not watching the original Japanese version of The Ring. That would have really messed you up! Though the remake is decent and will probably terrify you too 😂

R
Richard Maurer · October 11, 2026

Since the remake “borrows” (to put it nicely) most of the scares from the original I doubt she’ll find it that much less scary. Sure the original executes the scenes better, but the premise is still the same, I doubt Cassie would notice the difference at the jump scare parts. It’s in the rest of the movie where original outshines the remake substantially.

A
Andrew Heller · October 10, 2026

Im glad The Mist won….everyone should watch that movie atleast once because you know why

M
Mark Vaderr · October 11, 2026

The Mist is a good movie, period. The movie is more than "you know why".

C
Clarence Newman · October 10, 2026

I saw Split last year and was very impressed. MacAvoy is great in everything, so I hope you get to watch The Last King of Scotland at some point. It's the true story of Idi Amin's reign as leader of Uganda in the 70s. Pleasant fellow, he was. I'm still way behind on reactions (crazy year), but I should be able to get back into it soon. The upside is, I'll have a decent backlog of reactions to watch when I do, just like when I found the channel a few years back. Took a sneak peak at the jumpscare at the end of Friday the 13th yesterday and was reminded of why I love October. The Ring is going to have a couple too, so buckle up your britches. I hope you still watch Horror of Dracula, though, because it's definitively definitive. Christopher Lee was great as Saruman, Count Dooku, Scaramanga and Lord Summerisle, but he was the perfect Count Dracula. It's Scary But Not Too Scary, so do yourself a big, fat favour before the month is done.

C
Clay F · October 10, 2026

I would love for her to react to The Last King of Scotland. A top request for me. McAvoy is great (impressive) in that, and Forest Whitaker won the Best Actor Oscar. I found interesting that They Live beat Horror of Dracula 79%-21%. The Ring will be a first watch for me. Glad you are going to be able to back into it soon. Make sure to watch her Blues Brothers and Peanut Butter Falcon full reactions. Of course, if you want character investment, watch her reactions to Knight of the Seven Kingdoms and/or Andor.

Good Evening, For those of you who remember Alfred Hitchcock Presents 1955-1962' and the Alfred Hitchcock Hour 1962-1965. He started off every program with Good Evening. This looks like a great lineup I know The Craft, I haven't seen in ages. My gf and I both loved Split and The Ring is one of best horror movies ever made. I know a lot of people are getting their picks watched. We went and saw Other Mommy with Jessica Chastain (2026) ok that was a little scary. My friend has been stopping by to watch the new series CARRIE (2026) on Prime. It goes so much more into the story then the movies and we love it. I leave you Cassie with the new Mrs Voorhees from the new series Crystal Lake who was on Jimmy Fallon the other day. DONT WATCH UNLESS YOU HAVE WATCHED FRIDAY 13TH WITH CASSIE https://youtube.com/shorts/S-yUVxk2qxg?is=T4sJ32IhU7Ckb3VE

I watched The Ring and The Grudge when I was 8-9 years old. Some older neighborhood kids thought it would be funny to show it to some of the younger kids and scare the shit out of us. It worked! It left a lasting imprint on me. I was scared to answer the house phone for months after watching The Ring. I haven't seen it since. I guess it's time.

C

Always love when they can incorporate phone calls into horror movies for some reason. Just a trope that always works for me. When a Stranger Calls was such a classic.

W
Wesley White · October 10, 2026

I watched your YT edit of Tropic Thunder the other night, hilarious as always! I always get into the spooky spirit, pun intended the moment October starts! I start by watching all 8 of the Universal Classic Monsters and then jump into any other horror classics from Hammer and beyond! Heck, thanks to you after watching the OG "Friday the 13th", I've decided to watch all of them, because I've never seen any of the other ones! The only other ones I've seen are Friday the 13th Part 2, 9, 10, 11 (Freddy vs Jason), and 12 (2009 reboot), never seen 3 through 8! I've seen "The Craft", it's interesting, let alone I've met one of the main actresses of that movie recently, Fairuza Balk, she was a sweetheart! I've seen parts of "The Mist"! I've never seen "Split", but I do know what it's about! "The Ring", it was weird, didn't scare me at all, you however given how much of a softy you are (no offence), I think it will lol! And "They Live" is a very interesting movie, and is infamous for a certain one-liner involving bubble-gum lol! Speaking of horror, I just came back from the convention Son of Monsterpalooza, and I met Doug Bradley (Hellraiser), Nick Castle (Halloween 78), Chris Sarandon (Fright Night & The Princess Bride), Amanda Bearse (Fright Night & Married With Children), and Thora Birch (Hocus Pocus & American Beauty)! They were all great people! I'm still hoping for "Van Helsing" to finally be reacted this season, I hope it's one of the ones you have locked in for reaction lol, you and Carly will enjoy it and she can handle this level of horror! Love and support, take care, you and Carly are the best, and God bless y'all and the family 🥰😇🙏🤗😉✌🌹

Christian Becker · October 10, 2026

Ah yes, the highlight of the week, entertainment-wise - Cassie's Upcoming. :-) I think "The Craft" passed me by unnoticed, but just from the picture I'd guess it's about a "coven of teen witches"? So that's not my usual hunting ground when I'm looking for a horror flick. Split is interesting, but now that you've seen two parts of the "non-trilogy", you should watch the last one sometime down the line as well - Glass. ;-) And finally, "The Ring" vs. "Ringu". I know a lot of people want you to watch Ringu instead of the US remake. As much as I usually agree that the original version of a good movie should always be watched, on this particular occasion my personal experience is a little bit different. I thought the US version was more spooky! Let me elaborate a bit. I saw the US version first, and I thought it was great and creepy. I didn't know it was a remake of the Japanese "Ringu". I watched that one later, and while it's also a great movie, it didn't have the same impact on me for two reasons. First, I obviously knew the story, so it was hard to be surprised by it - duh ;-). Secondly, and more importantly, I can't speak Japanese, so I had to watch it with subtitles, or, even worse, with the German dub, which is absolutely dreadful and for me, that kills the mood in every horror movie. I know you mentioned that you usually watch movies with captions, so for you it might not be the same problem. To be sure, I've rewatched both versions two or three times, and I stand by it - for me, the US version had more impact. So the Solomonic thing to do is to watch both, if your schedule allows. ;-) Have a great and wholesome October week!

C
Chris Thom · October 10, 2026

Ooh The Craft is a good choice. Not quite horror, but more of a witchy interpersonal teen drama with some good special effects for the time. Neve Campbell returns! Also Billy from Scream in a small part. Perfect for an October Spooktacular. Kind of like Vintage Hot Topic: The Movie.

While the ring may be typical scary scary, Split is psychological scary and Cassie has said that sometimes it's the "element" of something that could happen in real life that is more frightening. I remember at the time, many people were left thoroughly impressed by McAvoy's performance.

Larry Darrell · October 10, 2026

Now that you know Split is connected to Unbreakable, you should also know, you should NOT go into Split expecting a sequel to Unbreakable. You will be asking a lot of unnecessary questions and probably assume some wrong things. Split was NOT advertised as a sequel and upon first viewing, it does NOT act like a sequel. Split is its own movie. NO ONE knew Split was a sequel when they originally saw it at its release. Its connection is supposed to be a surprise. M. Night Shyamalan even kept the connection between the two films a SECRET from the Studio.
