OCTOBER PICK A FLICK DRAW!!

What is the purpose of the "Field" in the bracket section? Deciding final round factor??

OK i just voted in the bracket for a non-patreon sub!! I love it

So glad The Title Programmer didn't win. Absolute trash. But then again most pick a flicks are

Ahh! So excited for you to see this (waiting til November is no problem as this is definitely not spooky vibes - in fact it's more festive vibes!). Desk Set is a truly adorable rom-com written by Nora Ephron's parents (Nora Ephron being the writer of You've Got Mail, Sleepless in Seattle, When Harry Met Sally etc), and it's very much in the same vein as those films. It's one of my go-to cosy watches. It probably won't do great numbers but I think you'll really like it so hopefully that makes up for it... It stars real life (secret) couple Katharine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy, who were together for 26 years (until his death). Its discussion of technology taking people's jobs is also extremely prescient in today's society, which is wild considering it came out c.70 years ago. Fun side fact: the old man (Carl) in Pixar's "Up" is modelled after Spencer Tracy in his later years. Look up a picture of Spencer Tracy in "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner" and you'll see the similarity!

Man! Top 10 last month and Top 25 this month...Going in the wrong direction :)

Who's winning the current horror movie polls?? Any updates? PAF pics are getting meh at this one

I made it to the Final 99. Clarence made it to the Final 25. Richard M made it to the Final 5 (came in 2nd -- what a tease).

Thoughts on the Scary Bracket so far (since I can't post there 🤷‍♂️): - Obviously, "Little Shop of Horrors" vs. "They Live" is shaping up to be the tightest race. I guess I'm pulling for the former, since post-"Starman" John Carpenter has never really held much interest for me, for whatever reason. 🤷‍♂️ If the former *does* win, I'd implore Cassie to first watch the theatrical cut in its entirety, and then, if possible, just watch the final act of the director's cut (startng where Audrey II calls up Audrey on the phone), since that's the only place where the 2 cuts deviate from each other. - Most disappointed "Dawn of the Dead" is losing that badly to "The Descent" (recency bias setting in for people with that one, methinks 🤨), but given her watching it largely hinges on whether Cassie ends up watching "Night of the Living Dead" first -- I know, as with "Evil Dead," it's not absolutely necessary... but you just might as well), it could be a moot point. - I have to admit "Manhunter" never did anything for me (Hannibal's expanded role in "Red Dragon" goes better with "The Silence of the Lambs" anyway, IMO... and better sets the stage for his 'close-up' in "Hannibal"), but it losing that badly to something like "Lake Placid" is rather baffling. 🤔 - Speaking of "Red Dragon," I like "Videodrome," but it seems to me any Cronenberg body horror outside of "The Fly" is probably going to be a bit too 'weird' for more casual viewers. 🤷‍♂️ Nonetheless, it's probably the most frustrating pairing for me (i.e. I don't want either one to get knocked off)... but still not as much as "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" vs. "The Fog." 😒 I suppose given the history of the former here apparently being promised by Cassie way back and her never delivering on it, this might be the best way to get her to finally watch it.

Dang, I missed the drawing live again. Gonna watch the VOD now, to see if I finally won, lol. I can't remember an October this hot in my life. It was 101° in La Mesa today. 102° on Saturday.

I watch Desk Set almost every single year. Such a charming movie. So excited for this watch.

Sorry we missed this one Cassie my buddy and his wife came over and watched Friday 13th with us. We care about these live events however were always playing catch up with you.

The Title Programer almost won.

Yes! Desk Set!

Nora Ephron, who wrote‘You’ve Got Mail’, her parents wrote ‘Desk Set’. As a child Nora met many old Hollywood stars, including the stars of ‘Desk Set’ . You’ll love it, an old school romantic comedy. Enjoy!

Yay! Desk Set is one of my all-time favorite movies! I used to watch it all the time with my mom. Great pick! I made it to the last remaining 5 of the pick this time, and for some reason...I got all nervous that mine might actually win. haha! Always love getting as many classics in the running as possible. Super excited to watch Desk Set!

Evening guys.

Keep the ish in mind though

please watch the irish movie THE SNAPPER

Cant wait.. hope I win this time.. a movie about a Star Trek fan would be perfect for Cassie.

Best part of this day!
