Backcoming...
Ho! Hey!
Happy week everyone! How was your guys weekend? My parents have been here and we have got to spoil Carly and the baby and it has been a tender time! We went on a ski lift yesterday on a scenic ride and it was breathtaking up in the mountains. Pictures can't do it justice. Nature is humbling.
Well lookie what we have here this week-hockey masks, berets and chairs?? This week we have A Bridge too Far, Friday the 13th and Backrooms. Next week will be The Ring (breathing in to a paper bag), Split (the runner up) and my PPOTM!
Today is the last day to enter the September Pick a Flick! We will have the live drawing on Monday the 5th at 6pm Mountain Time.
Also I am going to do a spooky movie bracket tomorrow-go to beta.popcorninbed.com and go to the leaderboard and put in your scary (but not too scary) requests and upvote the ones you love already!
Last thing! we are going to do a Scary Movie Trivia night again! October 27th!!! Can’t wait! Wear your costumes ;)
Thanks for everything guys! Happy October!!
Cassie

R.I.P. Eva Marie Saint. 🙁 I believe that now makes Lee Grant and Dick Van Dyke the oldest living Hollywood actors, both on the verge of turning 101. 🤔
Curious if we are still getting that Bracket Poll? Looks like maybe Cassie gave up on that. It takes a week or more to get through all the voting rounds.
perhaps she'll incorporate it with tonights PaF draw
Admittedly, when it comes to tech things , i'm not the brightest bulb in the box! So I'll ask my dumb question, since Cassie is running, the scary movie marathon on YouTube Live, will tonight's Pick a Flick drawing be available there, as I don't think I've ever seen anybody run two lives simultaneously? Either way it will be available here on patreon , right? Thanks in advance!
Geez , that's a good question , I would have never thought about that! Thanks for asking!👍
Cujo is another Id recommend
Long movie but huge production.
hi i just joined i miss carle
I'm loving the 24/7 SCARY MOVIE MARATHON, many reactions i have not watched. Could you do something similar on Dec with Xmas movies, or comedies?
Hi Cassie, really enjoy your reactions. I saw this on facebook the other day and thought it was interesting so I thought I'd pass it along: If you could only watch 5 movies the rest of your life, what would they be? My five after some thought, would be A few Good Men, the Warriors, Radio, Last of the Mohicans, and Almost Famous
That is an interesting question. The first two of mine are easy- Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1990) [seen at least 100 times already] and The Last Unicorn (1982) [dozens]. After that it becomes a lot more difficult. Before The Last Jedi happened, Empire Strikes Back would easily be on the list, but it's not anymore. Shogun (1980) [dozens too] is there if mini-series are counted as a movie, so would Pride and Prejudice (1995). I'll have to really think about the last 1-3.
Really hoping we get a drop this weekend 🙏 😁
The beginning of Friday the 13th and your more scared of Backrooms!??!??. Ha. That'll change.
One of the greatest casts of all time!!! A Bridge too Far.
I would have preferred she watch The Longest Day first, but ABTF won a head-to-head poll.
Any chance of a "Childs Play" reaction this year, Cassie??? Ive been waiting years for this one. October after October after October, and always dissapointed
I think she has two more personal scary picks...one could be Childs Play? I'm hoping for The Fog (1980). Both films may end up getting selected on the bracket poll.
Haunting of Bly Manor is just as good as Hill House
I see PiB is running a “Popcorn in Dread 24/7 Scary Movie Marathon” on YouTube.
Interesting concept, I wonder how many will watch. I had mentioned to Clay in another post that Cassie has to be very motivated to get her current scary movie reactions edited quickly and up on YT during October, otherwise you lose that audience to other reactors. Will she post scary movies to YT in November, would seem odd to do so.
I think Friday the 13th series would need to expand beyond October. There’s a lot to cover with that history and bad continuity like the Godzilla series
yeah same with freddy and myers halloween franchise. I don't like the types here on patreon "One and done movies screw the sequels" of people here. Ugh
A mod recently clarified that anything tagged as horror on the request list is open for inclusion on polls this October as “spooky” movies. With that in mind, I looked up movies tagged “romance” for possible inclusion in November’s “tender but not too tender” polls. Here’s some romances I hope get included: Real Genius Leaving Las Vegas The Quick and the Dead Dracula Phantom of the Opera American Pie The Last Picture Show The Shape of Water Crimson Peak Weird Science Fatal Attraction Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein Cat People The Room Badlands White Heat To Hell and Back Leprechaun 3
Bob - how much do you want to bet they won’t do a “random”bracket poll for tender November?
I can't find the scary movie bracket
It’s not up yet. It may have been wishful thinking, lol.
Cassie, for the bracket poll be aware that the horror genre has been wrongly applied to some Request films. I spotted these quickly in the Top 100 filtered by "horror" genre. I'm sure I missed a few more. - Manhunter (psychological thriller) - Little Shop of Horrors (predominately a comedy-musical) - Black Swan (psychological thriller) - Red Dragon (psychological thriller) - Lake Placid (action-comedy) - Death Becomes Her (comedy) - Deep Blue Sea (action)
Many considered Black Swan as psychological horror and body horror. -Wikipedia = "psychological horror", Google page = "horror/drama", TV Tropes = "psychological thriller horror”, horror fandom = "psychological horror film" https://horror.fandom.com/wiki/Black_Swan "The Terror of Perfection: Psychological and Body Horror in Black Swan" https://horrorobsessive.com/2020/10/21/the-terror-of-perfection/ "psychological horror". Director Darren Aronofsky: "we really wanted to ... build the horror out of ballet." https://www.denofgeek.com/movies/darren-aronofsky-interview-black-swan-remakes-wolverine-and-psychological-horror/ "Why Black Swan Is A Horror Movie" https://screenrant.com/why-black-swan-scary-movie/ "‘Black Swan’ is a horror film" https://www.indiewire.com/news/general/black-swan-is-a-horror-film-220244/
Also, daily reminder I own the WHOLE DVD BOXset of Nightmare on Elm Street, Halloween franchise minus the crappy 2018-2022 versions and Hellraiser stuff. Be jealous. You won't finish them all I guess since your patreons are the "One and done screw the sequels" types. Gonna re-watch them all this month
I’m not one-and-done-screw-the-sequels, Rene, I’m screw-watching-ALL-sequels-because-there are-bound-to-be-bad-ones-and-they clog-up-the-channel. Planet of the Apes is a perfect example. Man, there were some shite sequels there. I want a couple more Dirty Harrys, but not all; one more Expendables, but no more. I also want Halloween 2, but have no interest in the rest. It’s so important she’s selective with the sequels, otherwise they become a mini series with 2 hour long episodes.
The "Big 3" Freddy/Jason/Myers? PFFFT, I prefer the mount rushmore of horror with including Hellraiser and Chucky.
Ben/ Cassie, Can we talk about the mod problem that keeps rearing its ugly head? I don't know why, and I don't really care why, but Coleton is at it again (under this post). This harassment has been going on for years- I asked him to stop, I've told him to stop, YOU have told him to stop. I have stopped talking to the mods, if they reply to a thread I was participating in, I walk away from it. Can we finally get a ruling- is your mod allowed to harass a customer for years on end? Will the customer get punished for being fed up with it? I left a comment in this post showing how the mod in question only replies to me, showing that it is blatant, targeted harassment despite Rule 1.
Are we suppose to comment on this? Seems a private matter between you and Ben.
I can already hear Cassie saying over and over in my head "wheres the hockey mask?"
Hmm. No mod comment. Weird.
Look what you did to HIMMM!!!
I hope the scary movie edits can actually get posted to YT in October. The time from full-reaction to YT edit is taking so much longer now.
You say "posted to YT" but what you care about is when the YT edit is posted to Patreon, right? Yeah, my guess is most of the YT edits of October full reactions will post to Patreon in November. YT edits of the full reactions of early October more likely to squeeze in for a October post to Patreon.
Best movie we saw in September Heart Of The Beast (2026) Brad Pitt and mans best friend.
My tween wants to see that-do you think it’s ok for an11-14 year old ?
You've seen Halloween (Halloween 2 is a good sequel and it should have ended there). You've seen Nightmare on Elm St and now to finish the Big 3 you're starting Friday the 13th! Very good. Friday the 13th 1, 3, and 4 are the best. Back Rooms- get ready for some mind expansion, very thought provoking.
Oh and a great classic must see that is Carly friendly (and was on the TV in a background scene from the Halloween movie) is Forbidden Planet (1956).
All the very best to Carly and her new baby! If it's OK to ask, Cassie: When will the Citizen Kane (1941) reaction be up? Is that one of the films that you have had problems with copyright clearance?
If you are asking about the YouTube edit for Citizen Kane, it does have to clear copyright first, then it will most likely be posted in November, after Scary But Not Too Scary October is done.
Some good news on the Warhammer 40K TV and film project – the initial stories to start this thing have been written and they're moving on to scripting and initial casting for the first series, which I think might be the Gregor Eisenhorn story. He's an Inquisitor hunting down Chaos cultists in a hive city in the 41st Millennium, and he uses radical methods to unearth clues to track them down and deal with them. I haven't read up on Eisenhorn but from what I've heard it's going to have that film noir, hard-boiled and jaded detective feel. Good point to start from and to branch off in whichever direction you want to go in the lore.
Another recommend. Tales from the crypt: demon knight
Underrated movie. Lots of fun.
There ar3 two more franchises for her to see: Hellraiser and chucky
Hellraiser is great. Hellraiser II is worth watching, but not required. Child’s Play (Chucky) is good, but stop after the first one - IMO.
Does anyone know, when submitting a PAF submission over on the website, will the fact that I can actually submit one because I'm a paying member be enough proof or does Ben have to do some other type of verification? Thanks
Hi David, Ben verifies the membership after the win, but there are no other steps required by you. The creator Patreon tools and the Patreon connection to the Pick-a-Flick site are enough to complete this verification.
One note on "A Bridge Too Far": You saw glimpses of this operation waaaaay back in "Band of Brothers" in episodes 4 & 5, as they were deeply involved in Operation Market Garden. Also, there's a glimpse of this in "Patton" where they take away all the fuel for his advance (when he was driving toward Germany) and gave it to Montgomery for Market Garden. Patton says something like, "You give me that fuel and I can be in Germany in 10 days!" History proved him right as the French border was virtually stripped of defenses where he was at the time (the Falaise Gap). If he'd been allowed to proceed, there was a clear shot to deep into Germany in late August, 1944. Anyway, TMI, I'm sure, but that one decision (which was highly politicized) could've truly ended the war by December and dramatically changed the Iron Curtain, as the Soviets were still mired in Eastern Poland.
This is all spectacular! So happy to hear that you're spoiling the new family member (and maybe even Carly a little)! God bless and enjoy the fall. My favorite season! Ours doesn't arrive in Central NC until November, but the benefit is that winter is usually done around mid-to late-February.
Speaking of breathing into a paper bag, I still see no mention of Horror of Dracula. I feel a panic attack approaching. Although I’m not as bad as Richard, who has developed a twitch and started pulling his eyelashes out.
Nope, it’s not happening. At best it will be on the brackets poll. Ring was already screwed over for the lower ranked The Ring, why would HoD get a watch?
Beautiful fall colors!
I keep seeing people comment that you were hoping to watch something really scary this years. For your particular sensibilities, I think that just might be the same one that scarred Carly back in the day. Might be fun to visit it in her honor: When a Stranger Calls. Original or remake. Classic creepiness with lots of tension and building suspense. Would imagine it might be a similar experience to The Blair Witch Project. Rewatched that reaction tonight, and it was good btw.
Black Christmas would be better. When a Stranger Calls has that twist about fifteen minutes in and never matches that suspense. It started out as a short student film, which ended with that iconic reveal. Problem being, Black Christmas had a similar reveal several years earlier but it happened at the END of the film. And Black Christmas is just a better film; I consider it the first of the true slasher films.
Holy foliage, that's a pretty hill! Beautiful. Hope Carly recovering well and happy and bonding. That said....today is the official first day of the Octoberverse. Are you ready? Are you mentally prepared? The Ring should be a vibe. Curious if you will find it scary. It's definitely creepy and moody. Rainy Washington setting.
Beautiful view Cassie! I hope you don't watch too many horrors but it's halloween, I know. Congrats again to Carly on the baby!
She should just collaborate with KatWatchesHorror on this one for more extreme uncomfy movies she might react to. Kat should be her emotional support for it. New rule!
Oh, I love A Bridge Too Far :) I’m from Poland, so I especially appreciate how it gives Polish soldiers the recognition they deserve — while also doing justice to the British, Americans, Dutch and others involved. Can't wait!!
A horror bracket poll - could be really good or really bad, depending on what the choices are.
I'm assuming random picks from Requests?
Split and Backrooms are both good, looking forward to them. Friday the 13th is a bad movie and The Ring is an inferior, money-grab remake of the original Japanese film Ring (Ringu) ‘98 - I won’t waste my time with those.
All we can do is vote in Polls and suggest stuff. Same with any reactor I follow. It's easy to get disappointed with the schedule, but I just accept whatever come along. I'm here because I like Cassie more than the movies she reacts to.
The Ring was the last scary movie which scared me which I saw as an older teen, the last film which made me afraid of the dark when I walked upstairs in the dark to go to bed after me and my parents watched the physical Netflix disc. No horror movie's really scared me since, until I saw Midsommer. Midsommer was more of a family wellbeing concern, essential crisis thing though.
hopefully you'll recognise a particular evil blonde haired targaryen in backrooms 😏🐉
Well, I'm happy to report that today at work was finally a normal one, no over the top extra cleaning work, but I did have to do a bit of over time because we had a bunch of sodas that the south kitchen servers were to lazy to come and pick them up and bring them back to their kitchen! Still, today was a good day despite these past three nights where they were doing tile floor work making the south kitchen closed! And after last night, I felt exactly like King Kong during his triple T-Rex fight, BTW I finally watched the YT Edit of that last night and left you a nice $5 Super Comment, give it a look-see when you get a chance and I hope you like it! I'm still bummed I missed the premiere for it because I wanted to say so many things and trivia to you during the live chat lol! Anyway, I'm glad to hear your parents had a great time and they got to meet their new grandson, big congrats once again to Carly, give her a hug for me, I'm happy for all of you! I've heard of "A Bridge To Far" and I know who's in it and I know what it's about, but I've never seen it, so I'll finally watch it for the first time after you post it! Looking forward for your first time reaction to in my opinion is the second best "Slasher" horror franchize "Friday the 13th", it may surprise you, sshhhh I'm not spoiling anything🤫lol! "The Ring"......seriously, that movie didn't scare me at all, and even if I watched the original Japanese version, I'll bet I still wouldn't be scared! I unfortunately won't be available for the Scary Movie Trivia that night, gotta work! But, I am dressing up for Halloween this year, I can't even remember the last time I dressed up, and I'm going as the old school superhero best known for the 1930's radio broadcast of the same name and hosted by Orson Wells (Citizen Kane) and the 1994 adaptation staring Alec Baldwin "The Shadow"! I'll be sure to send you some pictures so you can see how I look lol😁 Great to hear you're doing well, love and support, take care, you and Carly are the best, and God bless y'all and the family🥰😇🙏🤗😉✌🌹 PS: I left you a nice comment on your full reaction to "Cellular" and briefly mentioned about my fan letter that I sent you regarding a "Jason Statham Movie Poll" I created for you containing films I picked where he's the good guy, so that way you're no longer discouraged of the fact that he was a villain in that movie lol! Love and support🥰😇🙏🤗😉✌🌹
Look at all those fall colors! It's my Birthday this month, and I always look forward to it being apple season. If you are looking for more scary but not to scary, some suggestions are Strangers on a Train, Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956), finishing the Cornetto Trilogy with The Worlds End, not really scary but I think Harvey with Jimmy Stewart is a fun movie, I would also suggest the other Hannibal Lecter movies but I think you might vomit (Also the TV show is gross, but somehow the characters kept me watching).
Just a weird guess, but I think she might enjoy Hannibal (2001) quite a bit. It's tense and strange and gross, but pretty captivating with some great dialogue.
Cassie, please watch Mel Gibson's 'Apocalypto'
wow, van Gogh'ish!
Why not watch the movie that has influenced slasher films since it's release, Black Christmas (1974).
I wasn't expecting it to be so influential when I finally saw it. But even When a Stranger Calls seemed to borrow from it. Classic.
Beautiful autumn photos - the mist makes it even more ethereal. Looking forward to A Bridge Too Far, though I have a beef with it but won’t say what it is until after Cassie reacts to it.
Looking forward to A Bridge Too Far. Wish when the bracket votes happened there could have been a way for PiB to get The Longest Day in too. Both movies have All-Star casts and are based on novels by the same author Cornelius Ryan. The Longest Day dealt with D-Day June 1944 and A Bridge Too Far dealt with Market Garden the fall of 1944. Then Band of Brothers had episodes dealing with the Battle of the Bulge , Christmas 1944 or rewatch Patton to finish out WWII into 1945. A great history lesson .
Cassie, My gf has got our blanket picked out with your discount. The Wildlife design? Yes the wildlife design. A Bridge Too Far is a great war movie, a battle you might remember from Band Of Brothers? Not giving anything away. So Friday 13th I saw in the theater thanks to movie theaters bringing back the classics. My best friend that lives in CR and my friend in California were big fans of the franchise. I am telling Kat to skip to the remake. She has seen the first 4. That's all she needs to see. The original Friday 13th though my older brother snuck into the theater when he was 12 scared him so bad had to sleep with the lights on for 3-4 days that's a family legend there because everyone remembers it. Except me of course. I was less than a year old. I must have seen that new Taylor Swift video Patient Zero at least a dozen times. Dakota Johnson WOW she looks amazing in that video. Backrooms we saw in the theater, apparently it's based off a Creepypasta. That's all I am allowed to say. Beautiful pictures fall pictures you have there. We are headed the 9/11 memorial in Pennsylvania in a couple weeks to see the fall colors and of course the memorial. You know that when you complain it's just makes you feel more miserable? More on that on Monday.
Going to have to watch backrooms before the reaction. Heard good things. The ring and Split are very creepy. Looking forward to it
If cassie is planning watching the GRudge, just tell her to watch the japanese version.
People suggested Ringu instead of the remake and Ju-On instead of The Grudge. Her reaction upon hearing that Ringu was scarier than the remake was to immediately announce she was watching the remake.
"Well lookie what we have here this week-hockey masks, berets and chairs??" No, we do not have that. Remember your Scream trivia.
Good thing you added that last part . that I was about to question your trivia knowledge
The ring?!?! Please just watch the Japanese original. The remake isn't that good.. Pure cheap jumpscare s
She’s already said she’s watching the remake because it was less scary.
Excellent it's always nice when I look at my work schedule and I'm free for the lives. Good couple of weeks of movies looking forward to the reactions to A Bridge Too Far & Backrooms. Who knows we might get a PaF Horror winner to go along with the Spooky Bracket.
Backrooms? Oh Boy.. good luck with that one. Split on the other hand is really good. A couple of disturbing scenes.. but otherwise really good.
Before Cassie watches A Bridge Too Far, I really think we should all warn her that for some reason it has 2 different english subtitle options on streaming: "English CC" which only gives subtitles for all English dialogue, and just "English" which gives subtitles for all spoken languages in the movie including German and Dutch, which there is a lot of. I'm saying this because this is something I've always experienced whenever I've rented ABTF on Prime.
Good catch
Love those reds, yellows, and oranges at fall every yr. Nature's mogging, I'll allow lol. Glad your folks have met the new little guy! On the spooky side, great to see you dive into Friday the 13th. Welcome to camp crystal lake! Or..camp BLOOD
Speakig of friday the 13th, I OWN ALL sequels of it on dvd. 10 movies to be exact.. Ahhh feels good.
Even Freddy vs. Jason featuring Destiny's Child songstress...Kelly....Something?
Ew. Not a good week. And Backrooms is a lot of hype with no substance. It's a good concept stretched into a feature length film.
OH NO, good horror movies for once on the non-horror channel!?!?! ANYWAY!!
I saw Friday the 13th in 1981 with my older friends... I was 10 years old and had nightmares for months afterwards.
Definitely a nightmare kind of series for a kid. More the sequel though, I think. Some of that imagery is pretty terrifying. Even the NES game used to freak me out.
i'm definitely here for backrooms. Maybe even Friday13th but that one made me sleep headfirst in my sleeping bag for years as a kid.
Ft13th is pretty scary - for children.
A Bridge Too Far is a WWII classic! An all star cast too! Gorgeous views of the mountains. Nothing can beat those fall colors with the view like that. Here in Michigan, people would drive to the upper Lower Peninsula for scenic views of the trees in full fall colors.
I've been wanting to watch Backrooms. Free for me to stream on Prime as a subscriber.
It’s free if you have HBO max.
Btw, Crystal Lake series is out soon in october...
It's meant to be serious and scary? Or it's a meta dark comedy kind of thing?
New rule: Every month that has a Friday the 13th on the calendar is an automatic watching all sequels of it. I DON'T CARE HOW ABOUT BAD THEY ARE , YOU people even liked superhero sloppy crappy mediore sequels.
I have been arguing against superhero sequels since forever here, what is your rant going to be for me when I say the same for Friday the 13th and Elm Street and Halloween and everything else?
I was going to watch Backrooms, but decided to wait and do a watch-a-long with Cassie
Yay!
Oooh, Backrooms! I liked that one a lot.
Wow!!! Great week coming up! I think you may be underestimating Friday the 13th and focusing on how scary The Ring is going to be. Friday the 13th has some things! I’m just saying. Fall in L.A. is the absolute WORST. It’s still hot and muggy and it sucks.
Worst humidity in over 46 years say the weather people. At least we can wilt and sweat at the new Lucas Museum of Narrative Art. Too bad it only looks like a cloud. 😊
Backrooms is a twisted movie... My mind is STILL messed up from trying to understand it.
Definitely the ugliest furniture store in film history
Backrooms will be interesting.
Beautiful to hear you guys having some quality time with the new edition to the family! You’re really upping your scary movie game this year 😳
Friday The 13th!
Friday the 13th isn’t too bad, the ring, meh.. Backrooms is what I’m told the youths are into.
Give Backrooms a try! It’s very interesting and creates quite a unique atmosphere.
Wow you Canadians are so far behind us. In Australia we ended the weekend several days ago 😝
Here we go, spooky season, re-watch of Haunting of Hill house reaction is on schedule! Friday the 13th, ✅
Kaielle is watching it right now on her channel.
Friday the 13th is one of the many substandard slasher films that unfortunately spawn in Vivek of the success of John Carpenters Halloween I would recommend John Carpenter‘s the fog over any of the pretenders trying to copy Halloween the fog which he made after Halloween costar is Jamie Lee Curtis in a supporting role
It somewhat quickly became its own style though, like T-Rex vs Acrocanthosaurus in that they do similar things very differently
Ooo Bridge too Far. Great film.
All star cast if there ever was one
Wow! Beautiful fall colors! Can't wait to hop into spooky season!
Yesss F13th!!
It's time. It's BEEN time.
