July '25 Progress Report
Howdy y'all! July has been a solid month of work, with very little to show from it. There was one writing project that Karen and I needed to finish up this month, so I tried the "Brian College Method of Procrastination Writing," which is where you drink two energy drinks at 8pm and write until 5 in the morning. Let me tell you: it is extremely effective at getting the writing done and also ruining your sleep schedule for the next week and a half. I am 31 years old and my body cannot handle that any more. But I don't regret it.
WHAT'S NEW ON PATREON?
WHAT HAPPENED IN JULY?
A LOT OF PREP WORK! This video I'm making is looking to be pretty long, so I've been focused mostly on scripting and prep. This is both 1) extremely necessary and 2) extremely uninteresting to talk about.
I wish I had footage and photos, but I haven't even made it to that point. Instead, what I have is a BTS "How I got to this point" video that I'll be posting in the coming week, since this video has gone through three iterations to get to this point, and I think it might be interesting to talk through!
Since this video is longer both in format and in production time, I've been working on a repeatable cooking video and some smaller music-y animations (a la Froghorn) because they bring me joy, and I need more of a reason to keep learning Blender.
Outside of that, Karen and I have been working a lot on pitch/writing work. There is absolutely nothing in the industry at the moment, so it can feel a little silly to be working on anything at the moment. But you can't get writing jobs if you don't keep writing, so that's what we're up to!
WHAT'S UP NEXT?
Next month is the 2025 Pokemon World Championships in Anaheim, which I will be attending to do an onstage episode of The Gotta Catch 'Em All Game Show! That's really the big thing going on next month. So my main work will be that and the Unraveled-y video, with a splash of animation/cooking to give me something fun as a treat!
THAT'S BASICALLY IT.
I tried to see if I could attach a fun photo to this progress report, but I have literally taken ZERO photos this past month. I promise to do a better job of documenting things in the future.

Repeatable cooking video sounds like a nice, low-stakes project! I will admit I am excited to hear about Big Long thing but I'm also overjoyed to know there will be smaller little music animations. I have been harping on this point for years but as a corporate shareholder here my biggest priority is that your work brings you joy.
