Stiletto Meets Face

Today we are looking at an x-ray demonstrating the effects of a high heel used as a weapon.

In this case, Emma, a 20-year-old female, was involved in an argument with another woman. The altercation got physical and Emma was struck in the face with the heel end of a stiletto.

The high heel penetrated below the eye socket narrowly missing the eyeball, nerves, and controlling musculature. There was trauma to the sinus cavity and other bony structures.

The stiletto was surgically removed and shockingly, no long term damage or loss of sight occured.
