[Poll 1-A] Cult Classic Movies
Hello All -
Navi here. You guys suggested that we react to cult movies. So, here we are!
We want to watch one cult movie per month. Since there are abundance of options, we want your help to prioritize this list.
- Poll 1-A: This is a public poll that includes 25 choices. Multiple choice is allowed.
- Poll 1-B: After a week, top 12 picks will be re-posted in a new and final poll only on Patreon to decide which six movies we watch first
- We would re-post this poll every 6-months to keep it fresh.
P.S. There is no set standards or definition on what is considered cult movie. Google definition: “Something, typically a movie or book, that is popular or fashionable among a particular group or section of society.” There will be a different cult classic for different people. So if your choice is not listed, add it to the comments and I will make sure to get these included to the next poll.
P.S.S. We are doing Tarantino movies. Top 5 were selected from the poll posted last year (here) and we will be starting those in next couple weeks.
P.S.S.S. We love you all!
P.S.S.S.S. Happy Voting!

i think it's hard to define "cult classic"/"cult film" because so many different movies fall under this concept. like, initially it was for transgressive underground films not liked by the mainstream and/or critics, but that later amassed a large/loyal cult following. but there are also movies that did really well at the box office and film festivals that also have a cult following, like Back to the Future or Battle Royale. so which are the parameters? so imho this list is fine (like, you don't have to put only obscure films that only hardcore cinephiles have watched), because "cult classic" it's such a "debated" term... tho personally i would've chosen other titles, so here are my suggestions in no particular order: - Withnail & I (1987) - The Crow (1994) - The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975) - Harold and Maude (1971) - Oldboy (2003) - Enter the Dragon (1973) - Snatch (2000) - Airplane! (1980) and Top Secret! (1984) - Me and Earl and the Dying Girl (2015, "typical" teenager cancer story, but with a twist and with a protagonist that's a cinephile and love cult classics, so it's apt here) - any of the Night, Dawn, Day trilogy by George A. Romero - anything by Kubrick - Swiss Army Man (2016, you've already watched Everything Everywhere All At Once, this is the Daniels first movie and would be cool if you watch it) - The Silence of the Lambs and Se7en are also good picks, but i have no idea if they're considered "cult classics" (they sure have a cult following tho and are referenced everywhere) there's much more, but that for now i think
Thats what i always thought, movies that bombed and were panned but years later became loved, half of these would just be considered popular movies to me
Seeing BATTLE ROYALE listed: ❤️❤️❤️ Seeing how few votes it has and probably won’t win: 💔💔💔
Blade Runner is one of my top 5 movies of all time.... but i don't think it would make for a good reaction..? Went with Wet Hot American Summer. womp womp.
Damn, Scarface is among my favourite movies, but to think there are members of the couch who haven't seen Team America yet is wild, so that's where my vote goes!
malkovich malkovich
Platoon Road Warrior War games The Howling
Way too many choices for a poll.
"multiple choice is allowed"
which dawn of the dead?
TRAINING DAY PLZ
I would also consider a lot of John Carpenter's (The Thing) movies cult classics like "In the Mouth of Madness" and "Prince of Darkness" to "Escape from New York" and "Escape from L.A." and finally "They Live".
From Dusk Till Dawn would’ve been mfn EPIC😳😂 sum of these are def not cults classics Spy Kids, Pineapple Express, & Pans Labyrith are Not cult classics lol, BUT Pans Labyrinth is an absolutely Amazing film, award winning! A Must See!
Boondock Saints needs more love for sure.
"Pan's Labyrinth" isn't a cult classic but should be reacted to because it's one of the best films made in the 21st century. The Normies should have reacted to that film yesterday.
Cmon guys. Office Space and Lost Boys!!!
any chance for a 4 20 poll
For cult classics, I'd love to see you guys react to the Scream movie franchise!
Oh, man, El Laberinto del Fauno (Pan's Labyrinth) is such a GOOD movie. Spanish-mexican cinema at is finest. It has fantasy, a historical set-up, amazing performances, and such a beatiful cinematography. I don't think it will win, but I hope that for some reason this comment interest you guys in the movie and decided to watch it anyway.
Yay, thanks for doing this! I had commented on it but this is a pleasant surprise.
BUFFY is absolutely a cult classics. And should be kn this list. But maybe wait until you finish the series
It's funny because besides bladerunner all the actual cult classics are going to miss out on the next round. Way too many movies from the last 20 years like pineapple express and spy kids and training day etc The warriors, rocky horror picture show, clue, desperado, from dusk till dawn, clockwork orange... These all have cult followings til this day
I have been SALIVATING for Heathers to get its due!
“Something, typically a movie or book, that is popular or fashionable among a particular group or section of society.” Not a huge fan of that google definition. Certainly that's one aspect to being a cult classic but that definition can be used for any movie and is too broad. By that definition, popular films like "Titanic" and "Avatar" could be viewed as a cult classic. The term cult classic originated from underground films in the 60's and 70's that were shunned by the mainstream and a subculture formed around those films. The one criteria that all cult movies have in common is that they are not popular with general audiences or at the box office at least not initially. After all, the very definition of “cult” means that these movies have small but devoted followings.
From Dusk Till Dawn
No Buffy the Vampire Slayer - the Movie?
Being John Malkovich isn't going to win, but it should because it's a trippy movie and great
Yeah it's my favorite movie here tbh
Fuuuck that's a tough poll, so many great films.
Looking good! Some suggestions: Hedwig and the Angry Inch A Clockwork Orange Fifth Element From Dusk Till Dawn 30 Days of Night
I do have a craving for a little bit of the ol' ultra violence...
How are Idiocracy and Office Space not higher? Absolute classic comedies.
Good list but Starship Troopers & Alien should've been on this list as well if your doing cult classics just saying 🤷🏿♂️
tropic thunder needs to be on the list for sure. or just do it without us having to vote for it... ?
Glad Bladerunner made this list. That film had a hell of a journey from being a financial and critical flop at release to a scifi classic.
Not listed but should be considered: Tropic Thunder and Superbad.
Everybody should watch Jennifer's Body at least once😄
Jennif
The Breakfast Club. It's such a good movie that I will rewatch. I think you all would enjoy it too.
Everyone please vote for Training Day, Boondock Saints (sequel must be watched after) and Dawn of the Dead. And if DotD is chosen please dear God have Pat and Rana sitting next to Chris. RATINGS GOLD 😆😈
Bladerunner, Training Day and Scarface aren't cult classics imo. If anything, they became an easily identifiable template/influence to copy for shows and movie plots throughout the decades.
Bladerunner fits within the realm of cult classic. That film was a failure at the box office, panned by critics, and only when that film received the numerous directors cuts did people start to like the film. It wouldn't have become a scifi classic if it didn't start out as a cult classic.
Dazed and Confused
Director Richard Linklater's 1993 film Dazed and Confused has become a cult classic and is still regarded as one of the greatest films ever made. The film's enduring popularity was evident when it began drawing crowds for midnight screenings and played for a full year as a midnighter….good try tho
Pineapple Express and Idiocracy by far, easiest picks of my life.
Seems kinda wild to call movies like training day and pineapple express cult movies. They were hits right out the gate
Cult Classics you should add: Buckaroo Banzai, Big Trouble in Little China, Clue, Escape from New York, UHF, The Big Lebowski.
They did The Big Lebowski three years ago... https://www.patreon.com/posts/early-access-big-47222019
Looked at that Tarantino poll and damn Jackie Brown didn't make the cut. such a shame.
Why would it, it’s by far his worst film.
I'm hoping if Bladerunner wins you react to Bladerunner 2049 which is a goddamn masterpiece
Unpopular opinion: the theatrical version of Blade Runner is superior to the director’s cut
That's definitely an unpopular opinion
I'm afraid some might be "too soft" for Team America lol
Boondock saints
Honestly, pretty much all of them are great choices ( I guess Spy Kids made the list by mistake ;) Starship Troopers or From Dusk till Dawn would definitely be another great watch, though.
Bladerunner because it is a must see, and is in places completely epic, and willy wonka, because it is not what you think and it will be fun seeing the response to what it actually is.
The Lost Boys is such a classic. Also, what happened to Fast X?
How is Training Day & Scarface cult movies? Lol. The characters and movies themselves are generally known and are apart of pop culture
Scarface is in the same category as Bladerunner. It wasn't viewed favorably by critics at release and it did just okay at the box office but didn't become a classic movie until it reached cult movie status. That said, I agree with you about "Training Day". While not the biggest film that year it was well received by critics and the movie going public. In the awards that year it would have been looked on as criminal to give anyone other than Denzel Washington the Academy Award for best lead actor. "Training Day" might be a somewhat forgotten film but it certainly isn't a cult classic. It's very difficult for me to consider any film that was nominated for Academy Awards to be cult classics though there are exceptions. "Being John Malkovich" is one of those exceptions.
Cult classics I think about are Rocky Horror Picture Show, The Evil Dead, Cabin in The Woods, Clue, Super Troopers, The Thing, Monty Python & the Holy Grail, A Clockwork Orange, etc. If any of these haven’t been seen yet, feel free to take them as suggestions 😊
Thank you! I will get this added to the future poll. I will be positing a poll on horror movies in couple days. Also, we have already reacted to The Thing and Cabin in the woods :)
A list of "Cult Movies" and not have The Warriors on it is blasphemous.
How is Willy Wonka a cult movie?
According to the internet...
I am looking forward to the Tarantino reactions.
For me, no list of cult classics is complete without Rocky Horror Picture Show, but there's some banging options in this list for sure. Pan's Labyrinth and 12 Monkeys are my personal top picks
I believe most (maybe all?) of them have already seen Rocky Horror, they talked about it a bit on one of their recent podcast episodes
Blade runner & Training day are my guilty pleasures
Are we assuming they mean Dawn of The Dead from 2004
No, the original masterpiece from 1978
Omg Jennifer’s Body and Heathers will always get my vote, those are two of my favorite movies of all time. Would cry my eyes out if I saw a normies reaction to it 😂😂
Donnie Darko is like one of the only true Cult Classics here. Getting my one and only vote!
Thank you Normies for your dedication to your channel and reactions. I hope you have a wonderful morning, evening, and night. Thank you all.
Donnie Darko is my favorite movie but I hope Bladerunner wins for that monologue alone
If a poll has Boondock Saints, it gets my vote no matter what else is on there.
P.S.S.S.S.S.S Goodmorning
Boondock Saints is such an underrated gem.
Donnie Darko is so so good
