Princess Mononoke is one of the best movies ever

These are pretty much all fantastic films -- Studio Ghibli very rarely has a "miss" and even when they kind of do, it generally still ends up being a better piece of work than most of the stuff that comes from most other studios. They really are THAT consistent. My personal favorite Ghibli movie is "The Wind Rises", but it likely has no real shot of winning the poll since it isn't as popular as several other big Hayao Miyazaki/Studio Ghibli movies. I also think "Porco Rosso" is one of the best and most underappreciated of Miyazaki's filmography and deserves more credit and attention.

All the Ghibli dubs are fantastic, but the only one I would suggest in original Japanese is "Grave of the Fireflies". Since it's a semi-autobiographical story. Can't wait for ya'll to start watching these films!

Just make sure you DONT watch them on HBO. It's edited compared to the Disney ones. Also totoro has 2 versions. Fox and Disney

hope yall do another top 3 for Ghibli after you blow through these ones :D most of all Ghibli movies are fantastic and worth watching them

Porco Rosso's very fun. Not Studio Ghibli's best but a solid film. More light hearted than most Studio Ghibli's films.

And the Ghibli English dubs are pretty much the gold standard for English dubs. No way to be disappointed by it.

Love that y’all are doing a run of Ghibli films ❤️ I’m sure Howl’s will make it in but damn I really think it’s overrated.

All the Ghibli movies have incredible dubs I would highly reccomend watching them in dub.

"the secret world of arrietty" is most underrated movie tom holland is in it and its very relaxing movie. every person should watch this who are dealing with depression and sucidal thoughts

The wind rises is so beautifully tragic but i think the fact that its not as fantastical leads to folks over looking it. Its in my top 3 for sure.

Howl's Moving Castle, Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away are the definite top 3. However, My Neighbor Totoro always has a special place in my heart. It reminds me to have a childlike sense of wonder again.

I hope regardless of the outcome they watch Grave of the Fireflies. One of the most important anime films imo.

I really appreciate this poll and look forward to your reactions here on Patreon, but I would advice you to redo it after you have watched the popular ones (all that have more than 50 votes). Then you would get a better watch order for the remaining ones, as I would say that right now it is to close to call on their order. That of course is only if you guys want to watch all Ghibli movies, which you should.

all i need out of this list is the biggest softies for grave yard of the fireflies but you can’t miss with ghibli even ocean waves was so satisfying due to the art style that this studio uses

Might be worth expanding the search to non Ghibli anime movies. There are some excellent ones out there.

Grave of fireflies and princess momonoke is a must. Moving castle was good but im suprised its above grave of fireflies

love all the studio ghibli films, my favourite is definitely spirited away but kiki's delivery service, my neighbour totoro and princess mononoke are incredible as well. grave of the fireflies is also amazing but it's a very emotionally heavy film so i wouldn't recommend it as a introduction but i feel like spirited away is the best starting point even though it's the most well known film out the lot

I could never understand howl’s moving castle it was just so boring compared to movies like Grave of the firefly, Spirited away and Princess Mononoke

i was going to say mary and the witch's flower but that is studio ponoc.......i just like the animation/visuals of the films. none of them really do anything for me emotionally or storywise. its just beautiful moving art..............but as a witch i am partial to all the magic stuff. kiki, spirited away and howl's moving castle

The best movie is Princess Mononoke for sure and if you want to feel shitty Grave of the Fireflies, Rana and Chris should watch this definitely

Grave of the fireflies and princess Mononoke are masterpieces. Spirited away is the ultimate lovable answer to what a Japanese version of disney would look like lol. And I will never understand the howls castle love. It was average to me.
