[Feedback requested] Music Video - Reaction
Hi everyone!
Navi here. I wanted to introduce some of the Normies to popular Bollywood music. The only problem is that a lot of these songs are 6+ minutes long and can get pretty repetitive, so I decided not to play the entire song in the videos.
Suraj mentioned afterward that people might not love that approach, but unfortunately, that discussion happened after we had already filmed everything.
We currently have 3 music videos filmed and edited, but before I officially publish them on YouTube, I wanted to get some honest feedback from you guys.
Do you think this format is totally fine, or is it so outrageous that I should never publish these videos or I will face the wrath of the internet?
Music Video 1: LINK ABOVE (here)
Music Video 2: DEVDAS - Dola Re Dola (here)
Music Video 3: TAARE ZAMEINE PAR - Bum Bum Bole (here)
Please help. I need some honest opinions!

I kinda agree with Suraj on this, if people are clicking the video expecting a song reaction they are going to be disappointed with the short reactions here. Although I do agree with you Navi that the songs can get pretty repetitive. One workaround is that more recent bollywood movie songs (lets say from 2015 onwards) are shorter and also have some story sequences in between them, not just repetitive dancing. This is because Indian audiences themselves are losing patience with long repetitive dance numbers. Those could be more interesting to sit through. Sanjay Leela Bansali in recent years is a master of keeping you engaged through song sequences with beautiful visuals and storytelling, you can start with his recent movie songs. Regarding movies to react to, I think you can pick most of Aamir Khans filmography from 2000-2015 and hardly go wrong. I think 3 Idiots is always a good place to start, along with PK and Dangal. I'd be interested in what you think of movies like Lagaan and Rang de Basanti as well. His movies have this universality to them and its not surprise that his work is really popular with large parts of the world. Finally if I had to suggest one movie you absolutely should react to, its Tumbbad. Its a masterpiece of Indian horror and its absolutely world class cinema. And make sure Chris and Micky are on the couch as well, the cinematography for this movie is glorious.
Please watch My Name is Khan, a movie made for you guys to react.
I don’t really have anything to add that hasn’t already been said, but I wanted to mention the funny timing. If you were at all interested or know of Street Fighter 6, recently there was a new character shown in trailers that happens to emulate Bollywood vibes.
Teri meri prem kahani from movie Bodyguard. Gerua from movie Dilwale. janam janam from movie Dilwale.
This is more about the content not the format but it would be cool if both your audience and yourselves as well could discover new music together through reactions, like don't just react to music you want other people to discover and listen but also maybe expand your catalog yourself and listen to fan recommendations. Just my 2 cents on this 😀😀
I like the format!
I'm a desi too so here for all of it. I'd love full reactions but I can get that they are longer.

Can't wait to see what you guys think!
This was fun. Nice cultural exchange. My only note is it took a while to get to the video, I would start it first then give us the facts and tidbits/during or after. Personally I'm more likely to process and stick around once I'm into the video/song.
I don't care for Bollywood videos BUT i would watch some BABYMETAL video reactions. You'll probably have some copyright issues for some videos but it should be manageable. I love me some Babymetal music because they are awesome!!
Watch Chennai express movie of shahrukh khan
Don't have an interest in Bollywood myself but, I'm here on Patreon in the first place because I like the uncut format. From the perspective of being introduced to or taking an interest, I can't imagine enjoying the interaction/information being diced up.
DO NOT PUBLISH THESE VIDEOS. You don't want to react to a music video like this. The pre discussion is way to long before the videos even started. Just give a brief introduction and then start the music video, it's different from a pre discussion before the episode of a show or a full length movie. Be like, "Hello we are reacting to this song, here's what I know about the song and the movie and the style of song and the type of dance, and let's get started." You should definitely put the whole song not part of it and just be incredibly selective of the songs that you choose. No one will mind watching a whole song that they want to see the Normies react to. You don't want to cut out parts of the song and you would want to react to it the same way you are reacting to a trailer. Keep that format. It would be so weird if you guys are reacting to a trailer, and are just cutting parts out. It's not the same as a movie or show. I would HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend checking out RTTV's Bollywood and Tollywood reaction videos as they have only really shown the things that were requested by the fans and reacted to it the way a reaction channel would normally react to content they have never seen before. And now after doing it for so many years, they have become mini experts themselves in the industry. Again people initially click on these videos because they want to see a specific experience to the material, and for music videos and trailers, that means the whole thing. ONCE AGAIN, DO NOT PUBLISH THESE VIDEOS. IF YOU DO, DO SO AT YOUR OWN PERIL
I d say watch full video because more modern songs are short un length and it doesn't repeat as much as old ones. Also have a mix of classics like above with some modern like post 2010 20s
Even as a simple American… you want to understand Bollywood, don’t start with today’s Punjabi and Gujarati pop. That’s like trying to understand American music by listening only to one current genre with Swift, Drake, and Wallen. Start with Rafi, Lata, Asha, Kishore, All India Radio, Vividh Bharati, 45s, ghazal, qawwali, film orchestras, cabaret, R. D. Burman, Bappi. Then work your way to what Bollywood sounds like today. Otherwise you’re hearing one slice of the story and missing how the whole thing got here.
Hi, Bollywood fan here. I think the short ones are fine if you are not gonna watch the movies. Bollywood music videos are best enjoyed when you know the context behind them like Bum Bum Bole would only hit hard if you have seen the movie Taare Zameen Par if not then just watching a short version is better.
….oooh! Or try “Khalibali” from the movie “Paadmavat” it’s darker but really good!
You should watch full video even though the lyrics can be repetitive but the visuals aren’t and anyways Hindi isn’t their first language so repetitive lyrics won’t be that big of an issue
You can inform fellow normies about fun facts behind the song making like they only had access to the train for few hours and had to complete the shoot within that time frame and don’t edit the song because some songs have a deep meaning. Like I haven’t watched the bum bum bole reaction yet but give the reactors a context like the main character is suffering because of academic pressure and dyslexia and then this character (Aamir khan) enters
My only exposure to Bollywood music is the time they did it on Big Bang Theory, and the music video they had done for The Guild. My vote is to see it in full. I mean there are some classic rock songs and rap hits that are 6 minutes long. I say in order to understand and appreciate, we got to see it all
Do something funny and family friendly like “Nagada Nagada” from “Jab We Meet”….this might be fun…
I’ve little interest in Bollywood, so not sure how relevant my feedback is. But generally reaction audiences want you to experience the material the way they do. Like watching the extended editions. I think I’d rather you react to no Sabrina Carpenter videos than only half of a few. Feels disrespectful to the material. You wouldn’t look at 2/3 of a painting and expect to see the full picture and be able to critique the piece from an informed position and I can’t imagine Bollywood fans are any different.
