Battlestar Galactica - askin' some questions!
Hello everyone!
We wanted to pick your brains again after our latest post about doubledropping BSG got quite a bit of engagement. Since we started doubledropping, we've been spooling the FTL drives faster than a Gaius could count all of his extramarital children, and now we are very close to finishing the series.
With that being said, the doubledrops have been made possible since we did not replace Pluribus. So at this time we are looking for a good show to replace these two shows with one new show, while maintaining a double drop option. The double drop option might move to a different show, depending on what you guys want! We're all ears (and eyes). 👀
But back to the options... Here is a list we compiled yesterday from your recommendations and our preferences. We are aware more shows have been recommended, but we find these to be in similar vein to BSG/Pluribus.
I also want to mention that we would like this next show to be strictly boys couch, so that Marketa, Rana and Navi can focus on more wrestling content and reactions.
So please keep all of this info in mind while you review the list below. Please let us know if there are other titles that you think we should be looking at! We hope to share a poll based on the responses here soon.

It probably won’t be chosen because there’s only 1 season (Welcome to Netflix) but ‘1899,’ it’s absolutely brilliant and mind bending.
Snowpiercer or Alice in Borderland for me. The only drawback to Alice for me is that it has subtitles by memory and I hate dub. I loved ‘Dark’ however so maybe I just need to embrace it.
The Last Kingdom. Absolutely one of the most underrated series ever. Still praying you guys watch this show one day.

Star Trek TOS would be a great choice; the series had (and continues to have) enormous impact on American pop culture. Joss Whedon was a huge fan of TOS as well as TNG, which is why there were so many references to both shows on Buffy over the years. And of course it's well known that BSG creator Ronald D. Moore was also greatly influenced by Star Trek. Cinebinge reacted to TOS last year and they had a great time with it, so I bet the Normies would too. But if they ever do start watching TOS, I might need to change my Patreon display name to "Captain Frakking Kirk".

Came back to say Top Boy would be probably the best all boys couch reaction imo. Snowpiercer is decent as well for that. Honestly.. Haven't seen Bridgerton, but that seems like a potentially pretty fun thing for just the boys. But also, this came to mind: Hap & Leonard! It's is a super amazing under the radar short lived series ya'll would love and would work great on a boys only couch. It's about two co-dependent besties (one of them played by Michael K Williams), in late 80s East Texas, getting into dangerous shenanigans together. It's a dark comedic noir type genre and hits hard on themes of racism and misogyny and homophobia.

I agree with azalea. Fringe is another great choice. Its a great follow up after buffy and battlestar galactica. My choice would be: 1. Fringe 2. Man in the high castle 3. The Foundation If its strictly for the boyz. Mayor of Kingstown or Top Boy

The best option to follow up Buffy and BSG is definitely Fringe, it's soooooo good. One of the best scifi shows of the 2010s. But if I had to pick from the list definitely Sex and the City, an all boys couch reaction to that would be interesting and kinda hilarious.
Honestly snowfall is the only decent show on that list. Lol But Top Boy is way better. Also highly recommended MAYOR OF KINGSTOWN For guys. (Also better than snowfall) THE FOUNDATION OR SILO for the full couch. Great Pluribus replacement
For the guys: 1. Snowfall - Intense, character-driven, lots to break down episode by episode. 2. Twisted Metal – Fun, chaotic, action-heavy. Could make for entertaining reactions. 3. Snowpiercer – Strong themes and drama, solid for deeper breakdown-style content.

NORMIES, NOTE: If you do Daria, there's something you should be aware of! The original soundtrack is essential to the show's mood and atmosphere and era, but there was some kind of rights issue, and all the original music got replaced with generic crap in later releases. BUT, fans have restored the original experience in the "Daria Restoration Project". There is even an HD cleaned up version around somewhere. I don't know if i should link it here. This is going to be a problem for you, I assume. As first of all, it's not exactly an "official" release, if you catch my drift, so would Youtube have a problem with you reacting to it? Secondly, depending on how you do full-lengths, you might be relying on viewers also having this fan project, which is also dubious. So the choice becomes between a safe but fake/hollowed-out lesser Daria, and a shady/illegitimate full Daria.

I nominate David Lynch's Twin Peaks for consideration. There's even a Buffy connection: Joss Whedon has repeatedly said it significantly influenced BTVS (especially "Restless"). Mad Men would also be a great one. Series creator Matthew Weiner wrote multiple banger episodes of The Sopranos, so you know the show has some high quality writing.

Veronica Mars hasn't gained much traction here it seems like. It's too bad I think it's still a fantastic riff on the PI & film noir conventions. Not to mention incredibly rich longterm storytelling & just a ridiculous amount of pop culture references.
This has definitely been recommended, especially as a contender for replacing Buffy.. But this is just for the boys couch. 😩 I'm steadfast in wanting at least V Mars and Six Feet Under as full couches.

Glow is probably the best of the bunch. Maybe do it for the Girls Who Watch Wrestling. But like a Dennis Reynolds film, it goes until it just sort of ends (minus the full penetration).

I think Orphan Black could be fun with an all boys couch. I’d also like to offer up Person of Interest for a general reaction.
Either those shows would be lovely. They're both pretty underrepresented in the reaction community. darcie's watching stuff recently started Orphan Black & it's been a lot of fun revisiting it.

Dark – If you haven’t seen it yet, this one’s a mind-bender. Complex, atmospheric, and beautifully crafted. Feels like a perfect fit for deep dive couch discussions. Midnight Mass – Slow burn horror-drama with heavy philosophical and religious undertones. Character-driven and haunting in the best way. Silo – Dystopian mystery with a tight, tense atmosphere. Feels like it could scratch that BSG itch for world-building and conspiracy. Primate (2025) – A newer movie pick, but if you're open to a one-off reaction before committing to a full series, this one’s got some serious tension and social commentary. Totally respect the hold on From until Nikki’s available—that one’s gonna be worth the wait. Also, just for the record: Snowfall, Kingdom, and Alice in Borderland from your list? Solid choices. You really can’t go wrong. Can’t wait to see what wins the vote. Either way, we’ll be watching.
All of your recommended shows are ten times better than the poll options.
NGL this list isn't really my cup of tea. There more than a few shows here that fell off rather spectacularly & or blew the landing. Daria is probably the standout but I imagine it would get massacred in a poll.

It’s SO different than anything they’ve watched but so goofy and whacky that you can already envision Suraj loving it and Pat and Navi arguing about stuff… love it! Add An Idiot Abroad too… they’d gain some more audience for real branching out into some British comedy

Fringe! I feel like anyone who enjoyed Lost or BSG would fall in love with Fringe. Great cast, deep lore exploring cool sci-fi concepts, and recently did a rewatch, it still holds up!

An Idiot Abroad!!! With your international experience as a group Navi and Rana and Suraj would find it HILARIOUS!!!! Karl Pilkington is so ignorant and Manchester that it was a great show. You’ll have laughs and it is unlike ANYTHING you guys have watched before and might bring in some new audience. It’s British…. Also, the IT Crowd is great. In general, let’s see some classic British comedy shows. An Idiot Abroad will have GREAT discussions, especially when he travels to India!

While i would love Sex Education, i think the show is better with multiple genders present for the discussion, since the show deal with stuff that might be perceived differently by men/women.
Glow would be great, Sex education and Bridgerton are also fun. I mentioned it under the Sunday Rundown post: I like to recommend Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. Would be great for the guys, fun show with many interesting and sometimes heavy themes
I suggest Ted. Season 2 comes out soon so after you guys get done with Season 1, you can just hop straight into Season 2 right after. Plus its a freaking hilarious show.
