Fake pirateaba PSA
I can't believe it's come to this, but here's an important announcement: if you see anyone marked 'pirateaba' in the comments, even if they have my profile or picture, do not give them any information.
I will never ask for data, passwords, or anything else. People reported there were people attempting to scam others in the comments of other posts and I have reported two fake pirateabas.
It's weird to have to make that kind of announcement, but just practice good internet caution. It is hard to tell a fake pirateaba from me apart since their username and profile look the same as mine. Something for Patreon to sort out.
That's all from me. Real pirateaba, don't send me anything personal.
PS. Further clarity, I won't send venmos for signed copies, or special merch. I am not asking you for money in DM's. That's always a scammer's actions.

I was targeted so thank you for mentioning this. I wasn’t sure if it was a scam and Patreon comments were hacked as “Pirateaba” commented in my post and told me to contact them and told me I could get signed copies sent for $65usd and that I could get membership to an exclusive community with access to them. For quite a Lot of money. This made me a bit suss as I thought Patreon was exactly this. I thought I’d order one of the books I couldn’t preorder yet and they sent me their PayPal link - which had his name on it - and that made me more suspicious. I put it into PayPal but fortunately PayPal wouldn’t let me pay him $65 USD as it said this was likely a scam user. SO I didn’t respond but then got “ are you ready to join/order?” Via email a few times including again a couple of weeks later. Which made me think it was too pushy and had to be a fake scammer. But not wanting to accuse Pirateaba of any of this -as it was under her name etc I kept quiet. Figured PayPal was saving us from falling victim as that was the only way to pay them. Just was confused as to how they managed to impersonate her & if hacking of the Patreon is a thing ? Is that fake person now excluded from here ?

Is this a common thing? Scamming in Patreon comments seems like you are targeting a small and fairly internet savvy audience
Its actually pretty common due to the willingness for the one parting their well earned savings towards art is willing to separate their savings for similar reasons

Remember - to verify legitimate Pirateaba communications, demand they first write a 5,000 word short chapter within an hour to prove their identity. If they return within the hour with 5000 words - you know it's a scammer using an AI. If they return after a day apologizing that they accidentally wrote 90,000 word instead, it is a legitimate correspondence.
