Side Stories Poll -- February 2026!
Welcome to the poll. It's been a while, hasn't it? But I'm here and even if the first chapter isn't out yet, I've begun to stream and scheme and plan. And one of things I've observed is...
I have a lot to write! I still want to complete the Oelnnox segment of Baleros, the New Lands are always new landing, and the Fetohep chapters cannot wait. I am reluctant to commit to another arc, so I offer you this accord:
A one-chapter wonder poll. Highly concentrated doses of certain characters or POV's. Some may have that plot, others are just about them and certain things you'd never expect. Putting in weird and normal things here and I'm not telling you which is which. Enjoy and I'll be back on Saturday with a chapter!

Honestly between the Goblin poll chapter and the Lyonette poll chapter and the Halfseekers poll chapter too much of this volume has been dedicated to poll chapters. I kind of want to see the main story advance and feels almost like the author is dumping the responsibility of the story's progression onto the patrons at this point.

I'd love to read Tolveilouka reconciling himself becoming the Reluctant and Unwilling shadow assistant to the Inn, hehe. He's so dramatic about everything that I don't feel bad when he gets the 'stubborn mule' treatment, and it's all the more satisfying when he's sortof/kindof led to water and made to drink.
Glad to see that the cringy romance chapters are getting the least votes. I love so much of the wandering inn, but if there is one thing I don't come to this story for, it's the awkward relationships between people who can't communicate well.
I'm voting Tessa for the chance at as close to a Lyonette chapter as we can get. Though I would vote for Erin before that. Ultimately I'd like the insanity of a bunch of Friarlings (Can't spell) at the inn.

Dearest Paba, I want to express our concern for a lack of a character in the wandering inn. Belsc the dragon of the east gate of liscor. The second drake Erin ever met has been missing for quite some time. We have felt the story has had a hole inside it ever since his last appearance. We even signed a petition to get him into the story. We must have him. If you do not heed our woes WE SHALL SEND THE CHICKEN APPON THE!!!!!!

i think it's clear witch the favorite is. but the answer should clearly just be khelt, i'm pretending it's on there. I want more khelt chapters or actually the emperor of sands would be neat. maybe those profit guys, as they appear to be attempting to create a new god, witch i'm surprised none of the dead gods noticed
I pretty sure they know, but cannot affect the said God in any meaningful way. It took around 10 years for Erin to develop Divinity. (Could have even been a sooner development, but everything was born 10 years later) The difference here is that Erin was/is a tangible physical/spiritual being vs an immaterial concept. I still think Erin should have had a nascent divinity aspect healing her soul. It should have been all of Pawn’s [Faith] being used from/to Erin, (over the few Years of built up) heck she even has a literal based “Book” dedicated to her now. So far Erin has not gained anything from said [Faith] which is fine, but after the Palace Arc her open soul should had been a wonderful pocket for all that extra [Faith] to fill up, store and grow into a nascent divinity. Meanwhile their God should have a spark of intent. (Not sapience or conscience. Here I would further import the fact GDI would truly birth a God a second time from collective belief)(The first being Palace Goddess Erin by accident.) I could even see it in the future, where Erin vs said God to be fighting for the right to claim the divinity of DEATH. Though for a fact Erin has had a major boost after the Palace Arc. Both through the Arc and the Antiniuam building a Haven where they may even forevermore worship Goddess Erin. (This was exactly how Kasigna had steady supply of [Faith] juice.)(And to some degree Pawn as a suto-divine angel) Considering the whole hate on Necromancers throughout the whole story. I can even see it being a high level staple dedicated resurrection class, or even more so for high level [Priests]+ to have the ability to revive individuals. Though this all hinges on GDI allowing said classes to pivot that way.
Knowing this community I knew Lism would win, ugh.

Gonna vote Tessa just to keep her ahead of tolveilouka, can’t have him win. I really don’t like him. I’d probably end up being invested in a tolveilouka chapter if it’s written, but there are soooo many better (to me) options
spoilers on reddit from acid spoilers tell us that tessa chapter focuses on her time in tenbult before the rescue, on her spiral down with drugs and misery. Personally i'm not interested in a suffering chapter like pisces so i rather not have that chapter and skip to her recovery

Totally justified that everyone felt cucked on the Tessa storyline but not me, I was just happy to see another box being checked on the way to the main plot

I too voted for Lism and also found myself surprised. While I want to see Tessa's situation resolved (especially because we share our name) but I didn't want sad yet.
I REEEEEEALLY want more of the lord of love and wine counter leveling against Tyrion, but I need to know that Tessa starts to get better. She deserves it.
It seems like it will be a flashback to her time in Tenbault though.
I need more back-story on Lism. Especially if he ends up in opposition to the opinions of those he loves. That's fascinating to me especially in our own political climate.

Tessa needs to happen, if only because that's Lyonette's big plan she is working on. What I really need is to get Numbtongue back on his feet because it's a really bummer seeing him get red classes over several years!
Maybe we'll get some with Serafierre...? That was my vote. I really like her character and want to know how she's dealing with her new gifts.

Pirate, I say this with all the love and respect in the world but... you haven't "committed to an arc" since the palace of fates. If we must do a random side thing, what about Vally and Grimalkin and their school? The upper floors of wistram? Or wtf is going on with Numbtounge? Or the chick who go the sword from the cheese guy??
I am not all that interested in any of that to be honest. Wistram upper floors feels like it is way too big for a side story.
I was all set to endorse Tolvielouka (I would love to hear what an AI thinks of him, for example) but cannot resist Lism. He is simply too adorable when still striving SO hard to be an utterly mercenary SOB but just not quite being able to manage it anymore. I know it's almost in last place at the time I'm posting this, but I hope we get the mini-chapter expansion. I've been thinking about the drake woman whose husband is much higher level SO MUCH since then, and really hope we get to see more of her story.

Looks guy gals ppl of the inn. Avel is about bows, Valentine’s Day is also about bows, do we really want intrigue politics plots or tripping over himself tumbling into the arms of his lovely spider princess instead. Personally I would love it if they could have an on screen time.

I love Tessa being saved in the background. Also I feel Tessa’s recovery should be gradual over the course of a year or more. So I picked Tov because I forgot he was a disciple of god Erin and him working with the Erin worshipping antinium has so much potential to delve into the dark side of cults vs religions.
Agreed. Tessa and Lyonette’s offscreen chapter during Gary’s little arc was quite fun. It reminds me of Octavia’s character growth in the early chapters. Also @Pirateaba I say this with all the love in my heart but you can’t stick to a single arc if your life depended on it. We love that about you. Don’t change.

Going much farther without much more Rhaldon would be a travesty. Kevin has already figured it out, he just needs to convince Rhaldon of Oppenheimer's "Maybe we cannot be trusted with it but they DEFINITELY cannot, so which end of the first one would you like to be on... ?" logic. You cannot just make a scientific discovery so horrific that you simply hide it and hope no one ever finds it. If you found it, eventually someone else will too. There are ALREADY people running around with revolvers; would you like to do something about that, Rhaldon, or just hope they never shoot any of the wrong people? Because Kevin ain't buying that one... .
