Christmas rom-com recs!
Hi friends!
For anyone not on Facebook - Toni Lodge is coming on Jess Writes A Rom-Com later this week and we're going to record a Christmas episode. I'm hoping to collect as many voicemails as I can about your favourite Christmas rom-com, and we'll play as many as we can get through and discuss a bunch of movies.
If you feel shy and don't want to record a voicemail (by clicking the link above) - you can also comment here or email jessperkinscomedy@gmail.com
Cheers!

Not a Christmas rec or even a rec at all. And probably not a rom com. More of something to ponder. Agatha All Along. Comedy elements. Romance elements. Not a romcom I suspect. And I’m wondering if that’s common for queer representation. That as of yet not a lot of queer romcoms more queer media with romance and a sprinkle of comedy.
Can someone help me figure out how to access Jess Writes a Romcom? All I can see are short clips of episodes
You should be able to find full episodes on all podcast streamers! There are clips on socials and on youtube, but no full video episodes if that's what you mean
Gotta say The Holiday. Jack Black c'mon
Not enough Lesbian rom coms in the world so I'm always happy when it's time to rewatch The Happiest Season
The Holiday Club has a decent letterbox rating, it’s on my list!
A yearly must for me is While You Were Sleeping with Sandra Bullock and Bill Pullman. The plot is pretty fucked (Woman accidentally claims to be engaged to a man in a coma who she doesn't really know, his family fully embraces her, he wakes up and they gaslight him into believing he has amnesia and just forgot about her). But Sandra Bullock is such a star in this, so warm and funny and I just want her to be happy! The supporting cast of his family are also my favourite on-screen family in any movie. I think I'm generally really drawn to Christmas movies that highlight how lonely christmas can be, and this definitely does that in a beautiful way.
Yes this one! It's a favourite of mine, the plot is bananas, borderline criminal, but I love it
