Still listening but had to jump in to say, no no no do not say "newfie". I'm not from there but friends with two Newfoundlanders and from what I understand it's somewhat slurrish coming from someone not from there. (A bit of a "we call ourselves and each other that but you can't" situation, of which I'm sure you can think of other examples) As for pronunciation, again as just a knower of two folks from there, the "found" rhymes with the "bourne" in Melbourne, to make it extra confusing. "Newfin-Land" you don't fully pronounce every syllable like New Found Land, but also don't swallow them like newf'nl'n. But of course anyone with better knowledge can correct me
