A question for New Zealanders…

Hello!

Dave here. It’s no a secret that we’d love to do some shows in NZ and are looking into making this happen.

We’ve been looking into a date at the end of January 2026, around the weekend of Jan 23/24. A venue in Auckland might be free but they have flagged that weekend conincides with the Auckland Anniversary long weekend. Their concern is that people might go away for the long weekend and that it could be harder to get an audience in.

So just wanted to ask if you’re from there, in your experience do people generally go away? We asked one of our friends and they said not really . So we want more intel.

We are also looking into Wellington and I saw that the weekend before is Wellington Anniversary. Is that the same deal???

Obviously Patreon will be the first to hear when we lock in the shows! But let us know the deal and if you could make it.

I’m also open to suggestions on good pies in the area.

With love,

Dave

I think quite a lot of people in Wellington tend to go away for the long weekend, but i think the people who would want to be at a live show would stick around for it!

Wellington anniversary is on my birthday next year so I think you may have to do the Wellington show then 🤷‍♀️ but in all seriousness if you announce with enough notice I don’t think people would book holidays etc

Sometimes we head away from anniversary weekend. But if y’all are coming then that is what we’re doing! As long as you announce a couple of months in advance I think you’ll be fine

Please please please come to Christchurch too! Surely it can’t just be me and AJ here? We can round up some other South Islanders! ❤️

Agree with this!! Can't come all this way and not do the South Island

I don't think it'd be fatal but it would probably impact the number of people who can make it to some extent. Auckland has previously had cool events on at anniversary weekend (eg laneway) so I reckon enough people would be around to make it worth it. I'm in Wellington and I think more people here are probably away for it than in Auckland. Some lucky people take their summer breaks until WLG anniversary day.

While it’s true that lots of people take the long weekends to go somewhere, that just means that we can take the long weekend to come up and see you guys! As I’m sure lots of others will too. As for pies Dave, in Rotorua there is a shop called Pantry d’Or (bougee I know) and their steak and cheese pies are 💦💦💯 you just have to make the 2 ish hour trip down to sample them!

I don't think people have those anniversary weekends booked this early. There's heaps of time to plan to see an amazing comedy show 😉. Very hyped for a Welly show on Welly anniversary weekend

I can’t speak for whether Aucklanders will go away, but as a South Islander we’re pretty used to having to travel for shows, so would be the kind of thing I’d head up north for

Don’t worry about the pies. Everyone says pies in Australia are far superior. *backs away quickly*

Some people will go away for Wellington Anniversary but plenty won't. We'll make sure to be here if you book a show! And you have to try Puku Pies in Lyall Bay, Wellington - I recommend the pulled pork and jalapeño 🙂

Most people are back to 9-5 work by end of Feb so there are plenty of people who take the Auckland Anniversary long weekend to stay in Auckland - traffic getting out of Auckland is pretty brutal in Summer. I sure as heck won’t be going anywhere else if you have a show booked 🫡

I’d say it’s an even split if people who go away and those who don’t. But everything in NZ is pretty close tbh that even if you’re away, if you’ve got tickets sorted you’d just plan around being back for it. Also the Wellington anniversary time is my birthday and I would LOVE to spend it with my parasocial besties!!!!

Can’t speak for everyone, but I don’t go away for Auckland Anniversary and I would 1000% go to your show! Been hoping you’d head this way for yonks
