Who Knew It?!
EDIT: my sneaky goal here was for people who haven't tried it to read this thread and feel compelled to give it a listen, haha hopefully my dastardly plan worked on someone!
---
Who Knew It listeners, if you wanted to convince a friend to listen what would you tell them? And what episode/s would you suggest they start with?
If you're a non listener, how could you be convinced to give it a try?
I'm curious, cheers!

Any Mish or Suren episode 🙌🏾
What a dastard
I know a few people have said it already, but I’ve explained it as like Balderdash. The 100th episode is a great one to reel people in I think!
Would honestly just tell them to start with episode 1
Maybe you could publish something with a few starter questions and answers so people can play with their mates whilst on the pi.. beers. I figure other than that the next best way to get questions is to listen to the pod.
Who Knew It: The Card Game. Like Cards Against Humanity but WKI questions and answers, and a little notepad of answer sheets to submit your answers with and tiny pencil.
"It's like Balderdash or Fibbage but more fun, with a bunch of Aussie comedians as guests". And I'd try to find the episode with the most easy going match-the-host-energy guests to send to them.
Honestly would love to see them play fibbage just one time
Big fan of any episode with Alasdair or Cass! I like the eps where nearly all the answer options seem plausible, and there's a sense of nerdy awe at the reveal. It took me a while to try out the show even though I regularly listen to Do Go On because I tend not to enjoy game shows or trivia nights. What makes Who Knew It fun for me is the hearing friends poke fun at each other all while being clever.
I’ve been sending the Mish and Zach one to folks, with which I think I hooked my sister. I’ve also been borrowing ppl’s phones and downloading it without telling them, but haven’t figured out the part where they listen yet.
I think getting some new guests in from the Australian podcast world? That is how I found do go on originally. At this point sans pants, do go on, aunty Donna, Ben Russell all kind of run together but I like one and then start searching for things about that person. My favorite find from primates and this podcast are Jackson Bailey and Adam carnevale! The ape titty slide boys. I love hearing them talk.
I would show non listeners all the big wet episodes and I also like the Dave and Jess episodes, and Anthony Morgan / Rob Braslin episode. And Kirsty Webeck's early appearances were good, too. Have I listed all the episodes?
I send most of the ones with my questions to my sisters and friends. They like the one where Dave says "Fuck you Colin". I also recommend the ones with a lot of playing the game seriously, like Dave vs Alexei or Big Wet vs Zach
Exactly my approach, even down to the sister
I tell them it's like Balderdash but with actually funny people. Also there is yet to be an episode where I don't laugh out loud.
woah that's a hot streak!!
trivia plus comedy equals great podcast. or Obscure trivia plus Great comedians equals awesome podcast
Oh cheers James!
Anything with Big Wet and Zach, Lizzy Hoo, Ben Russell or Kirsty Webeck and driving becomes dangerous. I really enjoy Maren May too. I force apprentices to listen in the work van and I may have recruited at least one of them
oh love to hear that, cheers mate!
Kind of like Balderdash and trivia put together with a lot of laughs
Love it, cheers Leigha!
I say "Remember how we used to play balderdash? It's that, but comedians, and much funnier." Any of the Kirsty Webeck ones would be my go-to.
That's what I was going to say. Compare it to something they already know and, hopefully, love.
For me it's any episode with Suren. His answers are always funny and I actually enjoy that he throws out funny answers versus playing the game. I have given friends examples of questions and some of the responses to try to convince them!
oh that's awesome, cheers Janice! Will be lots more Suren in future eps I'm sure!
I doubt my ability because I haven't got anyone to listen 😞
That's not true actually, I got my 13 year old listening by holding him hostage in the car and putting it on. Sometimes that backfires when the riffing gets blue 😂
Also I'm not sure if this is really tedious and I'm sorry if so 😭 but if there's 3 male guests or 3 female guests my silly brain really struggles to follow who's talking or gives the answers! I will listen regardless don't worry 😉
oh interesting, I think that doesn't happen too often but will keep in mind!!
I have made some of my family listen on roadtrips and they have liked it. My family played a lot of balderdash growing up so it is a good fit. My brother mentioned wondering if the daily planet guys are on so I might point him towards ep 100
oh nice one, cheers Kendra!
I don't remember which episode number it was, but recent. My question about the definition of boffo was in it and the riffing on that word had me laughing so hard. My favorite word made even better. I also didn't remember my fake answers so I was delighted when I learned which one was mine.
hahaha loved Boffo so much! I think it was the one with Ruby
It’s professionals playing Balderdash. Win.
that is succinct!
I show my friends the episodes where you read my trivia in hopes that they'll get hooked before that final question. My other friend is a big Weekly Planet fan, so I tell him to listen to the James/Maseau episodes too.
oh nice one, cheers Ben!
Definitely the latest one (101) Damo is a funny fella and the way Lizzy & Dave bounced off him was hilarious Or anything with “big wet”🤣
Damo is so good! Kinda the perfect comedian for the show!
I will share the eps with my family that have the older gen comedians (like the ep with Dave O'Neil comes to mind) and saw Damien is on this week's, which I will share also 😊
oh awesome, cheers Emily!
I got my sister to listen by suggesting episodes where my questions are used. For my other friends that approach has worked on some but for others I talk up my favorite guests and appeal to their competitive streaks by comparing our own scores after we both listen
haha amazing!
