Progress Journal, July 2026
Greetings Mythicists! I hope your month is going well and that your adventure villains take a moment to reflect on just how darn special they are to us.
Here's what's going on around here!
Micro Mystery Machine
I just received the cover art from Jorge for Micro Mythic, and I love it :) We went back and forth with it a few times with previous drafts until we arrived at this version, which you can see above.
I wanted it to have some continuity with the Mythic GME 2e cover, so it uses a similar cosmic background style. However, since this is "micro" Mythic, I didn't want it to be in space, but in a more focused region. So this image represents what one might imagine if you were standing on the surface of one of the planets from the cover of MGME2e.
Plus, of course, a big weird machine in the foreground :)
Getting the cover completes a big item to check off the Micro Mythic list! Now, it's back to editing.
Mythic Magazine #68
The articles have been chosen by the Tier-3 Mythicists and work is underway for the next issue! The winning articles are:
Fate Question Focus Table: Instead of asking Yes/No Fate Questions, ask Questions to a Focus table & Keywords.
Co-GMing With Mythic: Using Mythic with a group to make your GM tasks easier.
I like doing articles that take some core aspect of Mythic and reshape it or even toss it out the window and see what else we can do. The Fate Question Focus table is one of those articles, reimagining Mythic without the Fate Chart. In this case, it's all up to a special Focus table and Meaning tables to do all the heavy oracular lifting.
But what about Odds, you say? And what about Random Events, and Exceptional results? And the Chaos Factor?!? Well, all of that stuff is still in there, in one form or another.
Co-GMing With Mythic is an article that covers a topic I sometimes see discussed online, and it seems like it should have been covered officially already in a Mythic book somewhere. I even had to go back through a copy of Mythic GME 2e to make sure it wasn't already in there. Aside from three paragraphs in the introduction chapter, there's not much else touching on this topic.
I'm glad it's time has come!
Mythic Magazine Compilation #10, Where Are You???
So yeah, Compilation #10 is really behind. Months ago I thought to myself, let's get Micro Mythic done and then I can do Comp 10. Micro Mythic won't take long, it's "micro" after all.
Now I think to myself, I need to get Compilation 10 done!
I'm going to split my production time between Micro and C10, which should mean Compilation #10 will be out some time in September. That'll be around the time Mythic Magazine #70 arrives. Since Compilation #10 compiles up to issue #60, that brings us closer to being caught up, but not quite. So I'll pivot to Compilation #11 after that, which will likely come out in November. So that'll bring us to a Compilation up to issue #66, while magazine #72 is out.
That feels more like "on schedule". It probably also means Compilation #12 will follow only two to three months later. Bottom line, there's a stampede of Compilations headed this way!
I sent the request off to Jorge to get started on Comp #10's cover, asking him to do the usual: look at the covers for issues #55-60, pull an element from each, and do your best to orchestrate them into a new cover. We'll see what he comes up with!
That's about it for now! Happy adventuring, everyone :)

So you're aiming for Compilation #10 to drop in September, #11 in November, and #12 next January/February... I notice that you haven't mentioned an expected release month for Micro Mythic. I assume you've kind of given up on predicting that one. I don't really blame you.
I very rarely give release dates for anything, because I'm so bad about hitting those targets. I am going out on a limb, though, and giving rough dates to the upcoming Compilations. I really can't let myself get further behind on those, so those release dates are more firm. Micro Mythic and Mythic RPG 2e, however, aren't on a deadline so I can take my time with them. That also means I have no idea when they'll release.
I didn't know about Micro Mythic. I guess it's all the one-pagers, but where can I find more info?
Hi Antonio :) Micro Mythic is a collection of the one-pagers printed in the magazine, with some updates and changes, a few new ones, and the whole bunch brought together to make a cohesive solo RPG system. I've been posting about it in the Progress Journal for a while, so probably the best way to see what's in it and how it's been going is to search "Progress Journal" here on the Patreon page. Just about every one of those for the past year or more has info about it.
Awesome art and concept. 👍️ Also, thanks for explaining the concept (being on one of the planets from GME 2e cover), because I would never have figured it by myself. 😅
I'm glad you like it :)
Still eagerly dancing up and down for Micro Mythic. That cover is incredible!
Thanks Dean :) Jorge did a great job on that!
The idea of Micro Mythic cover being a view from a planet could not be cooler! Absolutely love that concept.
Thank you :) It took me a while to arrive at this idea. Jorge and I bandied around a few other concepts. I had wanted it to be similar in flavor to MGME2e's cover, but I thought yet another cosmic cover would be cosmic overkill (Mythic Roleplaying 2e has a cosmic cover similar to MGME2e, except it's red tinged instead of blue). I was staring at the MGME2e cover thinking "what other variation on this could we do, what could we do ..." So that's when it finally clicked, when I kind of forgot why I was staring at the cover and was now just admiring Jorge's artwork, then I thought "pretty planets" and then I thought "!!!" Something like that :)
I was wondering when Compilation 10 would be coming! I gotta get 2 and 3 already to complete my set and get a step closer to owning everything. I feel like I'm living out my childhood fantasy of owning everything for GURPS!
Yes, I've had quite a few people asking me about #10, so I figured I better do something about that :)
