Mythic Magazine #66
Greetings Mythicists! Mythic Magazine #66 is here, and this issue is out of this world! Yeah, okay, bad pun :)
Here's what's inside:
The Planet Crafter: Build randomly generated planets, complete with a map, important details, and a custom table to keep adding details.
Adventure To Character Optimization: Create adventures that play to your Player Character's strengths.
Happy adventuring! :)

Thank you :) I'm glad you're imagining uses for it, especially in non sci-fi settings. Alien planets and worlds is one of those areas where sci-fi/fantasy/horror completely overlap. The sense of world discovery is pretty much the same across all genres. It'd work well for free-ranging sci-fi like Doctor Who, too. Oh goodness, part of MRPG2e? lol My already 350 page book may eventually become a 1,000 page book that is finally published in about 20 years lol I really struggle with the whole "oh that's cool it must go in!" mindset lol And here you are tempting me :)
That planet crafting article is mindblowing! 🤯 Thanks so much for it. I agree with Patrick, this goes far beyond Sci-fi. I'm totally going to use this as an excuse to visit more Prime worlds in Planescape. Spelljamming will also become more interesting. Even my Traveller games could use it, when I don't feel like going through the 250 pages of the World Builder Handbook and all its equations just for a quick stop-by planet. 😅 By the way, I really love the "shape interpretation" part of the mapping, I can see something cool in gestation, here. Part of Mythic RPG 2e? :)
One of my earliest and most treasured TTRPG memories is making endless planets using the template in the Star Wars D6 rulebook. One of the things I've always loved in solo RPGs is how they bring back that simple joy for me. You can understand why I was over the moon to see the Planet Crafter won the poll!
Oooh, thank you for sharing that :) Goodness, I can SO picture that. I have similar memories, spending time making stuff with some aspect of an RPG I loved. While it wasn't Star Wars D6 planets like you, it's the same feeling ... just such a cozy warmth at remembering those times when immersed in some magical act of roleplaying creation :) I hope you enjoy making planets with the Planet Crafter! I had a lot of fun writing this. I originally thought it might be anti-climactic for me, since I'd already done the Star System Creator. But I was surprised to find that this was one of my favorite Crafter's to make. I guess I didn't realize just how much I love planets lol
I've just grazed the surface of this one and it looks like a great issue. The Planet Crafter looks useful outside of Sci Fi with the mapping component being reusable for any fantasy setting. Even some of those planet focus tables look like they might be interesting tools to add interest you might not think of when putting together a fantasy setting. The second article looks quite interesting as well. Looks like it might be more geared to adjusting a published adventures for solo play which I don't really do at the moment, but I'm anticipating that the theory is going to be useful regardless.
Thanks Patrick :) Funny you should mention published adventures in regard to the second article, that's a keen perception. I had planned on including a section with the article about using Context Bias in additional situations, including morphing published adventures to meet a solo player character. Unfortunately, I ran out of time and had to cut it. That's a bummer, because I basically had the whole section written in my head, I just didn't have time to get it down and typeset. And I agree with you about the first article, that it's not just a sci-fi tool. In one of the examples I purposefully made it a mage walking through a magic mirror to try and get across that planets are planets and worlds are worlds, whether it's a sci-fi setting or something else. Again, that would have been a good sidebar to write and explicitly talk about it, but time always gets me in the end with the magazine.
