Progress Journal, February 2026

Greetings Mythicists! I hope your February is going well and that your Player Characters gave your chocolate recently to show that they cared.

Here's what's going on around here!

Compilation #9 Is Out, But Not Quite Done

Mythic Magazine Compilation #9 entered the world this month, at least in PDF form. I'm working on getting the POD edition files together and sent to DriveThru so I can order proofing copies. That all should take place over the next three weeks. I can't wait to hold them in my hands :)

Micro Mythic Editing Resumes

With Compilation #9 done, I've resumed the editing phase of Micro Mythic. Right now, I'm looking over the various One-Pagers to smooth over rough edges where they work together and other various edits. I feel like the first draft of the book came out pretty clean, as most of the edits are tweaks rather than overhauls. Once this is done, I'll have my line editor extraordinaire Mel comb through the whole thing in a final editing pass, after which the book will assume it's final form!

Mythic Magazine #63

I'm working on the next issue of the magazine, which contains "The Campaign Crafter" and "Rivals". The Campaign Crafter is similar to some of the other adventure story oriented Crafters, except this one takes a step back to bring in the bigger picture of a full campaign. Rivals is about running NPCs who aren't necessarily enemies, but are after the same thing your PC is.

The Rivals concept is interesting, because I realize that as a category this is an uncommon style of NPC. We usually view NPCs as either characters we interact with to further our adventures or adversaries to overcome. But what if there are NPCs that are much like your PC? It's as if they're playing the same adventure you are, pursuing the same goals. How does this change the adventure experience?

Meet My New Co-Worker

I've got a new colleague working in my office. Meet Pinky! Pinky arrived with an impressive resumé and list of references, not to mention a lovely pinkish hue. Pinky's job is to sit on my desk and send me telepathic messages, like, "When are you going to finish Micro Mythic? And what about Mythic RPG Second Edition??? Get to work, you!"

As you can see, Pinky is a natural motivator!

Shadows Over A Menu Screen

Above is a screenshot of the main menu screen for Shadows Over Kitra, the project I work on in my down time as a relaxer. I know that's not too exciting, but it at least shows a shot of the jungle environment.

I'm still working on getting the terrain just so. I plan to incorporate elements from Journey To The Isle of Kitra as well as Kozen Crest. I also plan to have a journal your character can pull out which will contain Mythic tools like answering Fate Questions and Discovering Meaning.

I don't view this as a serious product project, so it only gets spare time. However, if you are curious about it, please let me know and I'll keep including it in the monthly Progress Journal. I'd love to get this to a point where I can show The Lumberer or the Azure Dreamer striding through the wilderness.

That's it for now! Happy adventuring :)

Shadows Over Kitra sounds interesting, especially because you can include Mythic questions! Yeah would like to learn more about this. When you mentioned the Lumberer I picture a very large dude with a bushy beard and a HUGE axe slung over his shoulders lumbering thru the forest...what could he be up to???

lol yeah ... "The Lumberer" was not my best attempt at naming something. It does sound like a nickname for Paul Bunyan.

Looking forward to the Campaign Crafter in particular. The Rivals article sounds very interesting. And I'd love to keep hearing about Shadows over Kitra. Busy busy. Don't overwork Pinky please!

Pinky is excellent at work-life balance. She just had a little spritzing shower and spent some time sun bathing, and is now back on the desk and hard at work.
