Hello Tana, I remained a few months without downloading the magazine. I could download Magazines 60 to 58, bur for 57 and lower, I can't find the download link any more.
Hi Thibaut :) I'll send you a message.
High point adventure is going to be real interesting, I'll have to give this a shot with the fantasy or cyberpunk world stuff and see how it works for a one shot game.
I hope it works for you :) I used to play this way a lot, when I just didn't have much time to play recurring adventures. When I had a few hours to play, I would use this high point approach to basically play a lengthy campaign in that time as opposed to a single adventure. I found it surprisingly satisfying!
I really enjoyed the High Point Adventures article, thanks! In my current games, I was jumping a few scenes here and there (the boring parts, which I refer to as "narrative bookkeeping", like typically the after quest scenes when you let the involved parties know it's done), your idea of playing a campaign in a few scenes is putting the same concept quite to the extreme, and I find that super interesting! Because this means… We could actually play a campaign in like a week. And maybe, play a generational game by chaining week-long campaigns of successive generations. 🤔 And why stop there? Actually, we could play the history of a whole Kingdom using the High Point Adventures idea. Like, each scene is played with a different character (or maybe several at once) living a particular event in the history of the kingdom or something. This could be an awesome tool for world-building. And *then* we play a detailed, normal Mythic campaign in the resulting world! ^^ Also, by the way, not long ago, I was playing Chrono Trigger on an SNES emulator, and was thinking: "how comes I'm enjoying RPG videogames, which are so limited, when I have so many insane TTRPGs and all the tools I need to play them whenever I want?". And my answer to that was: because of how concentrated they are. In one session, you won 5 character levels and went through what would be months of events in a regular TTRPG game. Basically, you get dopamine hits again and again at a very fast pace. New item! New level! Saved the world! And got three more spells on my way back! Now there's a new villain! High Point Adventures could very well be the way to emulate that (pun intended) in the soloroleplaying world.
I totally agree with this. I used to play this way a lot. One of the things that bothered me was I didn't have to the time to play enough and take a lowly first level D&D character up to 15th or higher level. But in a high point approach, I could do this in only a session or two. I would get the satisfaction of guiding them through their whole career, something I just couldn't do if I had played out every step of the way.
congrats on 5 years; on a different note: I loved the High Point Adventures. A similar idea had been brewing in the back of my mind but I always felt like, No you gotta explore that dungeon, do the hexcrawl. Seeing this layed out before me is I think exactly what I needed.
Thank you Daniel :) I know what you mean about the feeling of "I gotta play this all out!" Some years ago I got very frustrated with starting games, wanting to play a campaign, running short on time, but feeling like I had to stick it out, then fatigue killing the game. So I started playing like this, just fast forwarding through the biggest moments and I loved it :)
Congrats on five years! Always consistent good content, a moment I look forward to during the month!
Thank you so much :) That feeling is exactly what I'm hoping for. When I was younger, I looked forward to Dragon Magazine every month. Whether I used the content or not, I just loved getting it and looking through it. That's the feeling I was hoping to capture with Mythic Magazine :)
Congratulations on this accomplishment Tana! Here's to many more!
Thank you Jason :)
To the next five years! Well deserved success! 👏 👏 👏
Thank you :) Journey onward!
