Mythic Magazine Podcast #18

Greetings Mythicists! In this episode, I answer a question about the origins of Mythic and The Adventure Crafter. In Deadworld Dome, Vi attempts to recruit a crucial ally in her battle for the dome.

This episode also gave me the opportunity to try out a new mechanic in Mythic RPG 2e for generating locations as you explore them. The book has a version of The Location Crafter for more indepth exploration, but a simpler Focus table alternative for quicker generation. This episode uses the second one.

I made a map of the location that's generated. My map making skills are terrible! And yet, that never stops me from making them lol I attached the map below if you're interested :)

Happy adventuring!

I have been banging my head against location interior generation for a while now, and love the location and adventure crafter modules for this. You mentioned a "location focus table"- which magazine is it in? It sounds perfect! Thank you for this wonderful episode as usual!

Thank you, Isabel :) The Location Focus table is part of the upcoming Mythic RPG 2e, which is still in the works. I was using the draft rules while playing Deadworld Dome as a playtest. It's an alternative to using full Location Crafting. MRPG2e will have a general Location Focus table for use with any Region, and at least one specialized Focus Table such as Dungeon Location.

Welcome, new Mythicist Etto! :) The podcast is primarily an ongoing actual play. We're a good 17 scenes or so into it now, so there's a lot of story there!

It feels like "unfolding events" or "gather a crew" adventures could be particularly relevant next scene. Perhaps set up something to sabotage and use that as the expected scene?

Yeah, maybe so. That's a good idea! I'm thinking unfolding events.
