I really love the idea of testing the expectation for NPC attributes. It's both a cool mechanic, and so quintessential Mythic. I imagine it could be paired well with the "character appearance" table, doing the reverse of the common inference of physical aspect from stats ("this NPC has STR 19 and DEX 8, so he's large and strong, but a bit slow"): we can roll on the character appearance table to figure out what the NPC looks like, then decide what we think their attributes are based on that, and then test that expectation.

Yes :) I like how it plays so well with other aspects of Mythic. Like you say, you may start with a description from a Meaning table. That helps shape your expectations, which influences your decision about their likely stat, then you roll to see if you're correct, and if the stat is different that could inspire further interpretation about why. Each process feeds organically into the other.

Thanks for reading my comment! (It's pronounced 'haw', but nobody gets it right 😁) I get a very "Furiosa" in Mad Max vibe from Beth, almost as if Vi walked into a larger adventure not about herself.

Oh darn, I had made a mental note when first recording the podcast to Google your name for a pronunciation then forgot about it! Sorry about that :) Good question though! I agree with you about the Furiosa comparison. I thought about this early on, that Vi feels as much as a visitor sometimes in someone else's adventure. When I rolled her up, she was very low powered. Really, not much above an average NPC. I thought about rerolling but decided to go with this, leaning into a low powered character. I figured the adventure would be more about what she witnesses than what she does, and that her arc would be less about doing heroic things than about developing, eventually, into a hero. We shall see if she does :)
