Mythic Magazine Podcast #9, Deadworld Dome Scene 5

Greetings Mythicists! We return to the troubled world of Deadworld Dome in the 9th Mythic Magazine Podcast.

When last we left Vi, she had just escaped a horde of zombies along with the survivors of the forest community. We see where they go next, and we get a clearer picture of what Beth wants of Vi.

This episode also addresses this question: Aside from Mythic prompts, what else do you use for inspiration?

Please feel free to comment below about the episode, pose your own interpretations of prompts from the Scene, or make any comments or questions about the developing Mythic RPG 2e game system.

Also, if you'd like to add questions to the random pile, please feel free! I draw one each month to answer at the start of the podcast.

Happy adventuring :)

I am thoroughly enjoying this podcast! You have such a brilliant creative thought process, and the way you are talking-aloud your processes really serves as a great model. So many interesting twists.

This adventure is awesome! I'm totally vested in it. When you launch Mythic RP 2.0 any chance including Deadworld Dome as some type of campaign setting that we can play with? Sort of like a playbox like D&D recently did with Greyhawk as a part of the DMG?

Another great episode. Not sure if it’s possible but I’d love to see your lists after every episode. Much like you show in the rulebooks or the magazines. Thanks! Grant

Thank you so much! And that's a great idea. I'll do that soon, probably as a separate post or maybe as a Progress Journal post. I have a few sheets I can share.

Question in general about mythic rpg, do you ever find using the one page rules better for a situation or do you always prefer the full rules/system for actual play?

I'm going to add this question to the AMA list for answering on the podcast, because I'd like to address this at some length. The short answer: Yes, I do use the one-page rules sometimes, mainly when I want to go faster or I'm dabbling with a shorter adventure. I have reasons why I use one or the other, and I'll save that discussion for the podcast because that may be getting into the weeds a bit lol

That was an interesting episode. Are you planning on adding more detailed conflict rules for Mythic Roleplaying? I personally enjoy this style of fast resolution, but I can see some tables I know of turned off by it.

Hi Dallas :) Yeah, I kind of ran through the combat fast in this episode. Maybe in the next one I should slow it down and show a more detailed combat. The Clash rules allow for the degree of granularity you want. So you can make a Clash be blow by blow, similar to traditional rounds. Or, you can have a single Clash account for the entire battle. You can keep track of Damage with Wounds, which would allow for a more detailed combat. You can also designate an NPC as a Minion, in which case a single Wound takes them out. That's what I did in the combat in this episode to move the fight along. Maybe in the next podcast I'll do a more detailed combat encounter to show all these various ways of handling it. There's also rules for handling who wins the Conflict, dealing Damage, and choosing a narrative Effect instead of Damage. That would all be easier to show in an example.
