Welcome New Patrons!
Had a bit of an influx of new backers in the last few days, after Daniel and I announced our plan to put fun episodes of IDSG up exclusively for our patrons. As we said, the episodes in which we give out information on fascists will always be free and immediately available to all, but we plan to release one extra episode per month, initially just for our Patreon backers, in which we chat about a movie, talk current events, answer some questions, or whatever. My patrons will get access to all these for as little as $1 per month - though obviously you're quite welcome to pledge more! - as well as exclusive access to episodes of Backer Street Irregulars, a podcast in which myself and author Kit Power (@kitgonzo) talk about our ongoing re-read of Arthur Conan Doyle's original Sherlock Holmes stories. Patrons will also get exclusive advance access to episodes of my solo podcast - the Shabcast. At the moment I am gradually releasing the installments (probably five in total) of a mammoth Shabcast in which my friend Holly Boson (@fireh9lly) explains Final Fantasy VII to me, a total video games novice. Patrons will also get access to everything I write in advance, which may include essays and even short stories (I'm chipping away at a few). Patrons will also get access to the ongoing reposts of the old (taken down) Wrong with Authority podcast, in which I, Kit Power, Daniel, and James Murphy, chatted about movies about history and the history they're about. I'm also thinking about recording audio versions of my own work, and possibly public domain works by others... since I'm told I have quite a nice voice. Another podcast project is being lightly sketched in for the new year but it's very tentative at the moment and so I won't announce it yet.
I just want to say to all of you, new patrons and old... thank you all so much. Your emotional and friendly support truly means a lot to me. And your financial support has been crucial for me over the last year (I don't generally talk about private stuff but the pandemic hit me hard) and will continue to be important in stopping my life from crashing around my ears (thus ruining my ability to produce IDSG in the process) in the next year. Of course, you should take care of yourself financially first so don't donate to me if it in any way endagers your own position. And no hard feelings to anyone who has to drop out - I'm grateful for all support, including support that ends.
Happy New Year to you all, and stay safe. And No Pasaran!
Love,
Jack
P.S. Still love you too Jane. xxx

I've been listening to the pod now for a couple months, really enjoy it (despite the subject matter), and didn't even know you two had Paterons to support. That's why I'm here now, doing what I can to support.
I'm really glad you guys started putting content behind a paywall. Not everything you do should be free, and you guys deserve to be paid!
Agreed. It's important work and I personally appreciate it. Especially as I would be one of the first to be lined up against the wall... (((I am Shlomo)))
Thank you Jack. I’m excited for the future content.
