Spooktober 3.1 'Midsommar' (2019)

A Halloween gift. Myself and the Same Log boys (finally) commence our new Spooktober season. Hey, it's Samhainn. It's a season when time becomes weird and flexible and permeable. So October can be whenever we want it to be.

This year, we start with Ari Aster's much-hailed, much-derided, much-interpreted, much-misunderstood 2019 masterpiece of folk horror Midsommar. One of the great modern anti-fascist films, if you ask me.
