Relay Rocks
Wondrous item, common

Relay rocks come in pairs, each carved to approximate the shape and size of the other. While holding one of these rocks, you can use an action to cast sending from it targeting the holder of the other rock, provided it is within 10 miles of you. If no creature is holding the target rock, you know immediately before casting the spell. Once sending is cast from one of these rocks, they can't be used again until the next dawn. If one of the rocks from a pair is destroyed, the other becomes nonmagical. 

Minor Curse. These relay rocks are poorly tuned to each other and prone to interference. Whenever sending is cast from one of these rocks, roll a d6. On a roll of 2 or lower, the spell instead targets a random creature within 10 miles of you that is holding another relay rock not paired with yours.
