Boring Bones Letter for June
Good morning, everyone! I hope you're all doing well. I'm dropping by to thank you for your continued support—especially those of you who chose to stick around despite the reduced content related to The Sims. That truly means the world to me, and I want to give back in some way, because you’ve made the choice to keep supporting me. I’d also like to take a moment to welcome all the new supporters who’ve landed here. Thank you for being here!!
I have some important and exciting updates to share with you—both about Project Etherea and my The Sims content.
🌌 Project Etherea:
We’ve made the decision not to launch public funding for Project Etherea until we have at least a playable build. This puts us in a position to deliver something truly valuable that justifies public support—without compromising anyone’s finances while the project is still taking shape. We have some incredible ideas for the game and will share more as we move forward. In the meantime, make sure you’re part of our Discord server to stay in the loop on everything and to catch some exclusive live streams we’ll be doing for members there, where we’ll share parts of the creation process and behind-the-scenes work: [CLICK HERE]
Note: Keep an eye on notifications to know when those streams go live! They’ll likely take place in the evening (Brazil time), which might be a weird or different time depending on where you live.
🔔 Important Notice:
The Boring Bones TV server has been officially closed. I chose to close it to focus entirely on our new Boringverse server and ensure that we’re all on the same page. While the previous server was large and served as a good hub for our tutorials, I’ve decided to migrate the tutorials to my blog instead. This will make them even more accessible and simplify things for those who were only looking for that content.
My goal was never to create a place for distraction or entertainment, and judging by the last moments of our server—calm and nearly silent—I believe that goal was achieved. Some people might see that as a bad sign, but to me, it was good. As a long-time procrastinator, I understand that access to distractions can often be our biggest excuse for not starting something that demands focus and commitment. And I’m happy to know our server wasn’t a contributor to that.
💡 One of my core values:
“The more I share, the more I have to share.”
While supporting the inZOI team, I provided more than 150 pages of ideas for the game. That process helped me come up with even more ideas for our own game.
In other words, everything I’m learning to build for our game will very likely be converted into The Sims 3 content at some point this month. That way, I can keep expanding our modular creations to even deeper levels. Doing this, I believe, opens the door to crafting even more powerful and creative assets for our own future game.
🎨 Life Updates & Personal Challenges:
This month has been absolutely wild, and I’m so glad to have you here with me. My girlfriend is finishing up her driver’s license, we’re painting and renovating our entire apartment, I’ve purchased five new courses to improve my skills in modeling, character modeling, environment design, animation, and general Blender knowledge—I’ve finished one course and I’m halfway through the second.
I’ve also secured new partnerships for the channel and was invited to co-author a book about how decisions transform businesses. When I started all of this in 2020, I never imagined I’d be doing so many different things in a single month. It’s been a real challenge—and the main skill I’m developing is: Resilience.
If someone had told me a year ago that I’d be doing all this, I wouldn’t have believed them. Because even though I’m a dreamer, the truth is I’ve always avoided risks—and learning new skills felt like breaking through a wall. Hard, exhausting, and overwhelming. Learning to enjoy the process and not feel burdened by it has honestly been such a blessing.
So once again, thank you for sticking with me. Despite the limited interactions here, those occasional comments or messages truly fill me with energy and excitement to keep going. I hope I can continue to surprise you and create content that, in some way, enriches the worlds you build in your own simulations.
📅 Year in Review (So Far):
Every month this year has marked a milestone:
March brought us the launch of inZOI and incredible invitations and partnerships to contribute and collaborate.
April was about taking that even further and starting to reap the rewards of those initiatives.
May, on the other hand, was a moment to slow down, reflect on my feelings, and make new decisions.
One of those decisions was to open a game studio—Boringverse Games—and to do so legally, with brand registration and all the required bureaucracy. That shift pulled me out of my comfort zone of just creating and placed me in a position where I had to manage and lead. These decisions bring pressure—but it’s a healthy pressure that forces me to change the way I see myself.
Honestly, the beginning of this process was really hard for me. The level of commitment required meant I had to quantify how much I was contributing each day—seven days a week. And even though I was doing a lot, while I was acting as a Game Designer, writing and detailing game logic, I didn’t feel useful enough. That made me post less on the channel and also fed into the feeling that I was being even less productive.
In the end, I’m glad that I found a sense of balance before May ended—something that, for many people, takes years to achieve. Understanding how my mind works—and especially how it can sabotage me—was a key part of that journey. That kind of clarity is priceless.
🌿 Looking Ahead – June:
With June here, my biggest challenge will be:
Balancing everything that’s brought me this far.
Because just because I started a game studio doesn’t mean I can’t continue creating for The Sims 3, working with inZOI, and pushing the channel even further. In fact, finding harmony between all these areas is what will allow me to dedicate even more time to deepen, manage, and give Project Etherea the love and creativity it deserves.
And with that, friends, I wrap up my monthly letter to you. I’m thinking of making this a monthly tradition—let me know if you think it’s worth continuing. Thank you for reading this far, and I’ll see you throughout the month with more updates in all these areas. ❤️
Thank you once again for your support. It means the world to me. And as a creator, I’m incredibly proud to be able to contribute and share this entire journey with each one of you. I hope this inspires you to create and build your own path, even in the wildest of dreams—because every path that can be walked, deserves to be walked by you.
