Development Update 8
I'm back to doing renders, so I can finally write another dev update. I mentioned that I usually have a render of the new update coming with the latest dev update, and for that to work, I need to actually do a render.
You needed to wait a bit longer this time around. The good thing is that I have pretty much finished writing the next release of A Foreign World. For now, it is about 10,500 words long. Only one or two scenes are missing. I want to have the visuals set up before writing them.
I sent the text yesterday evening to my proofreader, and I got it back this morning (You're a madman, you know that, right?), so now the pressure is back on me since I still have to do 250 renders and probably at least five animations before the release is finished.
I will try to get it done before Christmas. That way, you can enjoy Episode 2 before the new year. Hopefully, things aren't too busy for you at that time of the year.
I started promoting my game on Reddit. I recently heard that other devs get great results that way. To push my numbers on Steam, I'd like to put myself out there as much as possible.
A Familiar World will go up on Steam on the 9th of January. I want to get some eyeballs on it the week before. I'm curious. Where do you guys get your news on the latest adult games? Pirate sites, Reddit, Twitter, maybe Discords? I'll do some research myself, but perhaps you know a place or two where I can promote myself?
A Foreign World will drop on the 6th of February. Same question. Do you know where the players of such games hang out? I plan to do a bit more for this game. I heard that deviant Art could be a place to find an audience, but I've never looked at it, so I don't know how it works.
If you haven't wishlisted both games, please do so. Even if you don't buy them, it will tell Steam there is interest, and they should promote my games. I think every wishlist should translate to 2€ over the course of one year.
I should hurry because the images I'm rendering while writing this post are almost done.
At least one person is waiting for Playing With Fire 2. Let's address the bigger issue. Right now, I put a lot of time into developing these games with mediocre success. January and February will be the two months that decide whether I can make a living off of this. That's why I put so much effort into both A Familiar World and A Foreign World because If both of those fall flat, I need to cut back on the time I spend working on these sorts of games.
What does that have to do with Playing With Fire 2? It means I don't have the time to spare to work on a third game. In the back of my mind, I plan to create a very linear AVN that tells the story from Daniel's perspective, where I tweak things so I can maybe sell it on Steam. The first release of this game won't be out before March 2023 and might not be out ever if I don't make some money off of creating AVNs.
Anyway. Keep your eyes open for future releases.
Until then, Enjoy!

Try to get it on GOG also. It looks like it easy to request it to be put on there. Just go to the bottom of the page. I have really enjoyed the story so far.
