04 - Perfect Son-In-Law
Act 3 and Act 4 are basically finished. They only need a few more sound effects, some ambient sounds, maybe a spellcheck, and then they are done.
This means text, renders and music are all pretty much completed and the update will surely be ready for release next Friday as prophesied by the Roadmap. This was easy. I think the next deadline is where I'm going to find out if I have to adjust the roadmap. Ambitious but possible. That's how I descibed my plans. For now the emphasis is still on possible ;D
This time I tried something new. Usually I add a preview image to my posts. As you can see, today we have a music track instead. Of course, it's part of the soundtrack of Perfect Son-In-Law. It's a theme for anything Dungeon and career related.
People liked the background music in the demo. But honestly, there was one track I thought didn't fit particularely well. It's the one that played during the strength assesment. You can probably guess where this is going. The track that comes with this post will replace the one that I was unhappy with previously. Innitially I generated it for a scene in Act 3 but once I heard it I realized that it would go well with the strength assesment too.
For those who are wondering, the next update will add 6 new tracks. It has 248 images, 3 animations, and the story is about 5,000 words long.
Wanna see something cool?
My last dev update was a week ago, so there is only so much I can tell you that's new. Maybe the only other thing that's of note is that I made it so I could display Emojies in text. Sounds easy, but I had to jumpo through some hoops to make it work.
That's about it. See you next week

Thank you for this update, and respect for sticking with the timeline! Can't wait to play it!"
Emojis in a program could be a nightmare for the code 😅🫣
Renpy is doing most of the heavy lifting 🫡
