Development Update 66

Will there be more good news this time as well?

Yes.

Of course.

Did you expect anything else? Well, don't be so pessimistic. You're allowed to be hopefull from time to time.

So should we get to it? I suppose we should. I finished the Demo for my next game. It's a bit over 12,000 words long and more importantly, it features 450+ jaw droppingly beautiful renders. Some of my best work yet. With that I had more than enough material to create a steam store page. In fact, I'm currently only waiting for steam to take a look at that page and to give their go ahead.

Nobody knows how long this is going to go, or if there needs to be a back and forth where I clarify things like my mature content warning, but let's be hopefull and say: "It's just a matter of time."

Additionally I hired someone to create a trailer for my next project. Before I usualy made trailers myself, but this time I had to admit that my video editing skills won't do my next game justice. So this is the first for me where I commission an Artist I don't personally know, to create something that might or might not be the reason my next game will do well. Trailers aren't the first thing players will see, but they are still quite important.

I'm excited.

Once the Trailer is ready, and my page is approved, I will do the big announcement here on Patreon, I will post about the game on X, I will ping the people on my Discord, and I might even make some posts on Reddit. And hopefully all this will result in lots of wishlists. Because marketing is like pushing a snowball down a hill. If you're lucky it will start rolling, build momentum, and turn into an avalanche.

Well even if it doesn't. Decent looking AVN's have a good baseline on steam. But that doesn't mean that I don't need you to wishlist my next project. Avalanches don't start out of nowhere.

Well, enough about my next project. What about the current? I did a couple of things actually. First things first, now that I'm done with the Demo it's time to release open Episode 9.5 up to beta access.

A Foreign World Episode 9.5 will enter beta access on Wednesday the 11th of March.

There you have it. I hope you guys are excited. And I suspect that some of you actually might be. Recently I noticed an influx in activity on my game's f95 page. Yeah... Ep9 was leaked, but the conversations haven't died down yet, even though it's been a while. If I'm lucky I can keep people talking about A Foreign World all the way to the innevitable full release.

Wishfull thinking, I know. But the 11th of March is the first step.

Additionally, after working on the steam store page of my next project, I decided the store page of A Foreign World could benefit from an update. So I change the capsule image, sharpened the text, and improved the selection of screenshots. If you're curious how it looks now, feel free to check it out (👉store page). I actually tried translating the store page into a bunch of languages that I don't speak. If you do speak a language other than english, feel free to give me feedback on how the store page sounds in your mother tongue. I'm genuinely curious.

Next, I'm working with someone who volunteered to create an Italian translation for A Foreign World. I offered to first create an AI translation myself. That way he only has to proofread a translation that might be okay for 7/10 lines. We'll see if this is going to work. It's still pretty early.

My idea for A Foreign World is to create a least a couple more AI translations. I'm really curious if they are any good, if there will be backlash, and similar things. If everything goes well, then localization into lots of languages might be a real possibility for my next project.
