Development Update 61

Hey everybody, we need to talk.

It's good news. And it's not just one thing either. How I stop being a tease and just tell you? Well, would be too easy wouldn't it?

The next update is basically ready to go. I'll probably put it out in beta access next week. The renders are all done (309 renders), the animations have been set up and transfomred into .webm files (21 animations), and the text is basically all done. If I had time to work on the game tomorrow, then Iwould be confident I could finish it this weekend. I'm taking part in a local volleyball tournament, so that's not happening. Even devs need hobbies :D

Still, next week isn't too bad of a pace either. Hopefully the upcoming updates won't take as long as previous ones. And actually there is a good reason to expect that they won't. Which leads me to the second thing I can tell you guys.

I presented my bachelor thesis to a couple of scientists, and handed it in. I'm only waiting for my grade and then I'm finally done with my studies. It's about time. I've been studing for about as long as I'm creating AVN's (five years). That's fairly long considering that my Bachelor should usually only take three years. Happens... No biggy

Anyway back to A Foreign World. I decided to stop expanding the memory screen. It's a lot of work, and I think it's no worth it. When the game is done I'll look at the memory screen again and finish it but no need to update it each update. Which brings me to the next thing.

We are getting closer to the grand finaly. I plan to do 11 Episodes with Episode 10 being the big Thingy and Episode 11 being the dessert for the fans. This means, we still have Episode 8, Episode 8.5, Episode 9, Episode 9.5, Episode 10, and Episode 11. Six more updates. Six.

And next week this number will drop to 5. And in Januar this number should go down to 4. You get it, right? I'm excited and I hope you guys are too. The next update looks fantanstic. It's some of my better work. The update after that is already written, and I think it's also pretty great. Let's keep this up for a bit longer and maybe next year I can finally finish my second long term project, besides my studies.
