Jessica Lee: Hello, Baltimore! Welcome back. As part of our continuing interview series on characters appearing in Chapter Two of Mythos, tonight's guest is Miss Sylvia DuBois. Miss DuBois is the chairperson of the Fame and Nature Group, a non-profit organization here in Baltimore.
Sylvia DuBois: Greetings Miss Lee, and thank you for making time for me on your program.
JL: The pleasure is mine, Miss DuBois. Before we get into the details of how you tie into the story of Mythos, what can you tell our viewers at home about the Fame and Nature Group?
SB: The Fame and Nature Group is a historical society based in Baltimore, but we have branches all across the United States. Our goal is to help preserve and maintain historic sites around the country, both man-made and natural. Also, we annually publish the Fame and Nature Guide, for tourists looking to visit these historically significant places.
JL: Fascinating! Do you work with other historical societies as well?
SB: Indeed we do! We give financial aid to individual historical sites, and the groups that maintain them, sometimes coordinating with donors to get them in touch with those sites directly.
JL: That's wonderful! Now I understand you also directly involve yourselves in restoration and maintenance projects?
SB: Correct. We've contracts within various trades so that sites can stay operational to the public. However, in some cases there are sites too delicate to withstand the rigors of tourism. In these cases, we give due diligence to preserving the site and providing security to assure that such places aren't vandalized.
JL: It sounds like your group does a lot of work!
SB: We do keep ourselves busy, but we couldn't do it without the help of our donors. Every contribution, large or small, is greatly appreciated.
JL: Certainly so, and viewers at home can call the number or visit the website below if they wish to make a donation or view the online version of the Fame and Nature Guide.
SB: Thank you for that, Miss Lee.
JL: Now, on to your involvement in Mythos -- how do you or your group come into play when dealing with the murder of Lisa Harrison?
SB: That's actually quite an interesting story -- so interesting, in fact, that I can't give out too many details. We do want people to play the game, of course.
JL: Oh, for sure! Just in broad details, then?
SB: Well, in their quest to solve their case, the main character and their associates discover that perhaps the Fame and Nature Group has some historical information that may relate to the circumstances around Miss Harrison's demise. As luck would have it, the main character finds out that we are holding a fundraiser gala -- one meant for high-dollar donors, thus something they shouldn't have known about. They need to infiltrate my party to attempt to uncover the information they seek.
JL: You said the main character and their associates?
SB: Indeed! I hope I'm allowed to say this, but the entire main cast find themselves at the gala.
JL: This is the huge scene that's been hinted at, then?
SB: (Slightly smiling) Perhaps.
JL: Well, that definitely is something to look forward to! Thank you so much for this enlightening interview, Miss DuBois! Do you have anything else you'd like to add for our viewers?
SB: I do -- please take your time to study history, even if some truths make you uncomfortable. Especially if it makes you uncomfortable. To overcome the sins of the past, we must look upon the unvarnished truths and the horrors that civilization has gone through, preventing us from ever facing such injustices again.
JL: (Pausing at Sylvia's intensity) Ah... yes, indeed... be sure to pay a visit to the Fame and Nature Group's website, making a donation if you can. And of course, keep the legends alive! I'm Jessica Lee, WETT Channel 6 Baltimore.
