Friday Update - March 26th, 2021
Happy End-of-March, everybody!
It seems like just yesterday I had my heat on, but today I got my air conditioning running!
Oh... it was just yesterday I had my heat on. Maryland weather.
Anyway, this is my progress update, so let's talk about progress! The first scene is complete. Technically. I've rearranged this chapter a few times already, but the most recent rearrangement had me combine the first scene with another scene because otherwise it would cause some serious issues with one of the main cast -- thankfully, my wife brought that to my attention when she saw me doing one of the renders.
So, the original version of scene one is complete, but it's now being combined with another scene to make it longer.
Why am I only just now finishing the first scene? Because I was really struggling with getting some of these things rendered. One shot took me 90 minutes, not including the time it took me to set it up! For reference, a typical render in Mythos takes me 3-5 minutes.
But I am fully back in the groove of things, with what I hope is the final outline done after the constant rearranging, which means I can start writing out more of the scenes while rendering.
Just like in Chapter One, scenes are of varying lengths -- the scene with Tara outside of her work was far, far shorter than the meeting at Rain's house, for example. Scene One of Chapter Two just happens to be the first of my monster chapters. There's going to be two more "big scenes", and then one... massive scene. The scene itself isn't long, so much as that it has five completely different ways to play out based on some choices you make.
I'm really excited for Chapter Two, since it means we can finally delve deeper into the part of Mythos that's actually... mythological. In Chapter One you dipped your toe into the world of the magical. In Chapter Two, I'm just coming up behind you and shoving you right into the pool. Probably ruining your phone in the process.
To quote the great Doctor Emmett Brown: "You're gonna see some serious shit."
Keep the legends alive!

PS - I hope you're curious about what the main character is running from in that header image. 😉
