Friday Update - December 11th, 2020

Heya, friends! Happy Friday! 

Work on Mythos is... continuing! This week was almost all coding-based; there was an actual bit of code I had to do involving B that is probably more complicated than it needs to be, but hopefully you'll all get a kick out of it. 

Also laying the groundwork for Achievements! Don't worry, there's no points to grind or anything like that; I'm just going to put silly things in the game that will unlock special renders in a gallery for you to look at. Why? Mostly because I kept coming up with funny achievement names and want to be goofy.

The biggest bit of visual work I did this week was the very first screen you see after starting the game:

This here is the screen where you choose if you wanna be male or female. I was gonna have a knock-off Professor Oak or use Game Boy-like graphics, but decided to go with this instead. Why are you choosing who to be in a dirty back alley? Because this dirty back alley is where Lisa Harrison's body was found! Gasp! And yes, that's why there's a chalk outline.

There's also a ton of foreshadowing thingies lurking in the background. Some of them were part of the scene, some of them were added by me, and some of them don't actually have any meaning. Way down the road, when something happens, I'm gonna point it out on this screen and y'all can say "OMG Teri you're so amazing!"

Though I'm sure there'll be someone who'll want to say "WELL ACKSHUALLY I NOTICED THAT." Don't be that person.

This coming week, I'm going to attempt animation!!! Gasp! Let's hope this works out, else Mythos is just gonna have still-frame sex scenes... which can still look nice, but I know you perverts wanna see the action in play. 😘

If you've been following the interviews, you'll know that Monica actually canceled this Tuesday's! Not to worry, though - there's going to be a post on Tuesday, just something different than what you're used to.

And, for a tech update - my computer still hasn't had any BSOD problems since I took care of intelppm.sys. Thus why work is getting done more smoothly!
