Bonus Project: Poppy Appliqué Beret
The Poppy has been a symbol of Remembrance since 1918, inspired by the First World War poem “In Flanders Fields”, and is worn each November in honour of those who have lost their lives in combat.
I made this beret a few years ago for Remembrance and finally got around to digitising the pattern and I'm making it available as a special bonus project.
I made my poppies in a single shade of red, but I’ve changed this to three shades in the pattern, to add a bit more dimension to the flowers.

The 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month. I work as an editor in U.S. naval history and I’ll be making this to wear for our annual bell ringing ceremony. Thank you.
Oh that’s lovely ❤️
Another lovely beret! ❤️❤️❤️ May I ask where you source your berets from or do you make them yourself? I've been wanting to make all of these berets, but haven't seen any here in the US. 🫶🏻
I usually get them on eBay or Etsy (or sometimes charity shops!) Search for “Woolmark beret” or “pure new wool beret” - the Chinese synthetic or wool blend ones aren’t as sturdy so they don’t keep their shape as well (although they’re a vegan option if required!)
