Introducing the Meadowdays Skirt
I know you're excited about this one since I shared a sneak peek with the Lido playsuit paper doll! I'm delighted to introduce our latest pattern, the Meadowdays skirt.
A quick and easy make, the Meadowdays skirt will make a great addition to your wardrobe at any time of year, just as chic in autumnal plaids or formal taffeta as light summer cottons.
The skirt is made in four flared gores, with a deep ruffle at the hem. The main gores are cut on the bias, while the ruffle is cut on the straight grain, giving scope to play with print directionality. View 1 is made all in one fabric, while view 2 features a contrast ruffle.
Perfect paired with the Lido bodice - I couldn't resist making a version in pink gingham to wear to the Barbie movie!
As an extra bonus, I've also included a vintage Simplicity guide to sewing with stripes and plaids with some top tips for pattern matching.

Quick Q please Charlotte or anyone who’s made this… I’m putting this on my sewing plans for Autumn/Winter and wonder how full is the flared skirt - can you wear a petticoat under it? 🤔
The skirt is a half circle, so semi-full - you could wear a light petticoat but a super floofy one might not work. You can see the full flare (how it might look with a full petticoat) in one of the pictures in the instruction book, where I’m twirling. Hope this helps!
Nice timing! I definitely still have summer sewing on my mind right now!
The pattern is lovely! I can’t wait to make it…thank you! And the little bonus guide is so appreciated. I’ve been nervous about cutting into my plaids as I have little experience with pattern matching…this will be so helpful! ❤️
That guide for plaids is so helpful, thank you! 🙏 I’ve got to give this a go this Autumn/Winter- I’ve 5 or 6 plaids in my stash! 😂
Thank you sew much! Very beautiful skirt. I can't wait to make it. :)
Awesome - I can't wait to see how you style it!
So super helpful ..Thank you Charlotte X
❤️❤️❤️ the guide to plaids will be so helpful! I adore plaids but never work with them because of a failed attempt at trying to match my plaid once, this will be so helpful. Thank you! ❤️❤️❤️
I can tell you I wish I'd had this guide when I first started sewing! I hope you find it helpful ❤️
