Magazine: Vogue Pattern Book June-July 1951
We're kicking off the month with the Vogue Pattern Book (a catalogue of current Vogue sewing patterns) from June/July 1951 - a fabulous peek into what the discerning home sewist was making for her summer wardrobe that year.
The introduction also notes that:
"Summer is the time when you can really let colour run riot in your wardrobe. The pretty, well-groomed way you look this season may depend largely on fresh, clear colour - planned to promote your suntan... crisp, cool materials that will stay immaculate all day long... spic-and-span accessories. One of the wonderful things about summer is that you can afford to change your colours scheme often - but stick to one colour at a time... a clear wash of one colour (or shades of a colour) has the coolest, most uncluttered look - the most attractive and the most comfortable look for hot days."
