Lyrics (Icelandic, then English)

Það vex eitt blóm fyrir vestan,
og vornóttin mild og góð
kemur á ljósum klæðum
og kveður því vögguljóð.

Ég ann þessu eina blómi,
sem aldrei ég fékk að sjá.
Og þangað horfir minn hugur
í hljóðri og einmana þrá.

Og því geng ég fár og fölur
með framandi jörð við il.
Það vex eitt blóm fyrir vestan
og veit ekki, að ég er til.

It grows, one flower to the west,
and in the spring, the gentle and the good
come on light garments,
and make a lullaby.

I love this one flower
that I never got to see.
And there my mind looks
in a quiet and lonely desire.

And so I walk and fall
with alien soil to sole.
It grows, one flower to the west,
and does not know that I exist.
