Recording Dr. Wu

At time of writing, it's just after 9:30am in Taiwan (6:30pm in Portland, OR) and for the first time since we started podcasting we're recording in a studio!

Today (technically tomorrow for those in the US) Sophie Yang will be bringing to life Dr. Miriam Wu, Nolira's colleague.  She's wearing two headphones at once (one with a skype call and me, the other with the sound engineer), and bringing a wide range of emotion into the sound booth. The sound engineer speaks as much English as I speak Mandarin and the three of us are working in tandem to record a great performance. With scripts for the second half of the season, we're in a race against the clock to finish everything in under an hour, and we're winning.

You'll hear the results of the recording session in Episode 5, which will be out shortly, and throughout the rest of this Season of VAST Horizon... So after you hear the episode, you might find yourself thinking of Sophie in a studio recording lines for Dr. Wu, wearing two headsets, speaking two languages, and on a skype call with a director who's 15 timezones away.
