Sidja Group Family Tree

With The White Vault: Goshawk (season two) introducing so many new players, and Dís & Tryggvi being key characters, the Families are center stage. Sidja Group is where it all started... back with Jónas in season one all those years ago. Please enjoy this carefully cultivated Family Tree for the Sidja Group.

One thing you may note is the lack of last names, as is noted by the use of the (normally) patronymic naming system in Iceland.

Text present at bottom of infographic reads as such:

  • Sidja Grúp’s family is Icelandic, but their site is in Svalbard, Norway. Their family has been charged with the site since before the settlement of Iceland.

  • True Daughters can pass on their Luck to their biological children. True Sons have Luck but cannot pass it on.

  • Siblings are shown in descending age order from left to right.

  • Iceland uses the patronymic naming system, but as matrilineal knowledge is more important for the family to maintain control over their ‘Luck’, they have been using matronymic last names for several generations.

We hope this is an entertaining bit of information on the world of The White Vault.

Cheers,
-Kaitlin

Because of https://www.reddit.com/r/doctorwho/comments/1f5zvx9/how_does_the_doctor_defeat_his_enemies/ I think that the Doctor would be disagreeing even against the viewpoint portrayed in The White Vault series. The Doctor, who thrives on asking questions and uncovering hidden truths, would never accept the notion that it's best not to ask questions or to avoid attempting to figure things out. The Doctor's entire existence revolves around unraveling mysteries, piecing together complex puzzles, and facing the unknown head-on, no matter how terrifying or incomprehensible it may seem. They don’t shy away from cosmic horrors or eldritch phenomena—they confront them, analyze them, and, more often than not, outwit them. Whether it’s exploiting the Silence’s power of suggestion, manipulating time to delay death, or even using their regeneration energy as a weapon in desperate situations, the Doctor thrives on the pursuit of understanding. Their intellectual superiority and problem-solving prowess often enable them to devise ingenious solutions, even in the face of overwhelming odds. In contrast, The White Vault emphasizes a worldview where ignorance is safety, where delving too deeply into the unknown leads to madness and death. The series suggests that sometimes it’s better not to explore, not to understand, and not to seek answers—an approach that runs completely counter to the Doctor's core philosophy. The Doctor would see such a perspective as dangerous and stifling, a refusal to confront the truth, regardless of the consequences. To the Doctor, standing idle in the face of the unknown is a betrayal of the very essence of being alive. Their faith in humanity and the resilience of those around them fuels their desire to confront danger and inspire others to do the same. They believe that knowledge, even when it’s terrifying, is a weapon that can be wielded to protect and liberate. The Doctor trusts in the strength and ingenuity of their companions, empowering them to ask difficult questions and challenge the status quo. The notion that some truths should remain buried or that ignorance is a form of protection would be anathema to the Doctor. The Doctor doesn’t run from the unknown—they run toward it. Whether it's tricking the Weeping Angels, using Venusian Aikido in combat, or leveraging the TARDIS to manipulate time, the Doctor’s methods are rooted in an insatiable drive to understand, adapt, and ultimately outsmart their enemies. Even when the odds seem insurmountable, the Doctor would never advocate for silence or ignorance as a means of survival. Where The White Vault suggests that knowledge can be too dangerous to pursue, the Doctor would argue that the danger lies not in asking questions, but in refusing to seek answers. For the Doctor, to stop asking questions is to surrender to fear, and that’s a fate far worse than any cosmic terror lurking beyond the veil.

Mind readers! I was literally thinking to myself after listening to the recent goshawk episode how a family tree would be super helpful to unpack all the dramas unfolding 😂 thanks, both!

Oh yay! I just started a re-listen last night!!! I love this series so much. It holds a special place in my heart. I’m wanting to get a tattoo for it (suggestions are welcome!) Listening to it again, I feel so bad for Jonás.
