MODDING DIARY | Creating Traits

Something a bit different from me! I started playing with traits over the summer, just playing around between careers, and I loved it straight away. Traits are very different from careers. Instead of levels, pay and schedules, it’s all about what your Sim feels and when. I really enjoyed playing with moodlets. A moodlet after a coffin nap, a sulk when there’s garlic in the house, a little social under Friendly that lets your sims have a chat.

It took a few goes to get right. My first build looked perfect in CAS and then did absolutely nothing in game, which turned out to be one tiny timing setting. Once that clicked, everything started firing, and watching a Sim get the Wrong Bed moodlet for the first time after not sleeping in a coffin was a little victory.

Once the basics were working, I couldn’t stop tinkering. In the latest update every social can go well or badly, Forsaken Mortals get tense whenever a real vampire walks in, and Old Souls feel very wise around the youngsters.

Even back in the summer, I knew my first little traits had to come out in spooky season, so Vampires it was!
