Joy Tanner played Mrs. Lara Coyne from Season 9 to Season 12 of Degrassi. Now, she’s joining us to talk about her time on the show.

Question 1: Having played such iconic maternal figures—from the comedic role of Nora McDonald, managing the chaos of a suburban middle class blended family with five children on Life With Derek, to the high-society, affluent Lara Coyne, mother of faternal twins, on Degrassi—how did those two production environments compare for you? Question 2: As a series regular on the comedy Life With Derek, did you find that your approach to your craft had to shift significantly when you stepped into the dramatic world of Degrassi? Question 3: It was such a fun 'full-circle' moment for fans to see you and Jordy Todosey reunited on Degrassi. Having watched Life With Derek as it originally aired, I was super excited when you first appeared as Fiona and Declan’s mother—it was amazing to see you take on Lara Coyne, who was the total opposite of Nora McDonald! What was it like sharing the screen with Jordy again, but in such a completely different dynamic compared to your mother-daughter relationship on Life With Derek? Question 4: Looking back, how does it feel to see the lasting impact that both of these shows have had on fans who grew up watching you in these roles? Question 5: Could you share a bit about the casting process for your role on Degrassi? Did you specifically read for the part of Lara Coyne, and had you ever auditioned for the show in the past before landing that role? How did that audition experience compare to others you’ve had in your career?
Do you have any Igbt family members or friends that came out to you in real life? Have you ever watched the original series? How different is it filming a comedy to doing drama? ( life with Derek)
Ouu, I love these!
