[Early Access] Take Off S2 Ch.136 "Incompatible"

I know a lot of people are really upset by Nathan, but I can't help but find him refreshing. He's putting himself first--even if he's a bit rude about it at times--and I really admire that. Honestly, he has fair points, too. Andrew has proven that (a) he isn't able or willing tl communicate his wants and needs to Nathan, meaning Nathan can't trust that he's doing something he wants versus it being just to please or keep Nathan, and (b) he definitely likes Nathan more than he's liked back, and he deserves to be loved completely for the beautiful human being he is. Although I do wish Nathan was a bit nicer to Andrew at times, he is completely within his rights to set boundaries, and I'm glad they're finally talking things out. I really hope we get to see a backstory for Nathan like we did for Andrew to help understand why he's so hyper-focused on how precious his time is. Was there a failed relationship? Did he have to claw his way to the states? Has he seen someone waste their life by not spending their time properly? I know the story is more Andrew-centric, but I find Nathan to be even more interesting than Andrew (though that might just be because we're not privy to his inner monologue) and would love to see what goes on in his head, past and present. Both Andrew and Nathan clearly have to work on themselves first before being able to be together as a healthy couple, and I'm excited to see their progress (both together and as individuals)!

Thanks so much, Jui for another great chapter! I am sad for them both. I know you said you are a sucker for the whole soul mate trope and these two will find each other again, but I’m having a hard time keeping the faith. It seems Nathan really has no patience for Andrew and doesn’t want his firsts. Too much pressure, he says. He sounds like an egotistical jerk. Or a spoiled child. This reminds me of the conversation he had in the bar with his friend, when he said he has his “needs” and he wont wait long for anyone. I remembered thinking then he sounded like a real jerk. And even though Andrew has his own self-esteem issues he needs to work on, and he needs to learn to love himself, I think he is too sweet and too good for Nathan. So as much as I was rooting for them before. Now I think Andrew should really find someone else. I think the only way you get around this current plot trajectory is if we get to see why Nathan is so cynical, and if we see that all of these things he says to Andrew are really just lies he tells to protect himself. IMHO. Lol

As much as I am going absolutely feral waiting for them to properly get together, I really really enjoy Nathan’s maturity and self-preservation. He’s a lot older than Andrew and has experience. He knows what he wants in life and love. And yes his words are sometimes harsh, but he’s clearly laying boundaries in a mature way. I love that about him. I get sick in other works of misunderstandings and lack of respect, so seeing this is so nice. And while I want to shake Nathan by the shoulders and tell him to just love our beefy golden retriever, I simultaneously respect his behaviour. Absolutely brilliantly wrote Jui!!
