I think that they're so very different in communication styles, that it doesn't come easy to be around each other, even though there's interest and a spark (and kuroo and akaashi). so the fact that bokuto will make an effort to understand kenma and be understood in return, just makes kenma feel feelings hitherto unknown to him.
