My stupid injury.
Hello Patrons,
I want to apologize for the lack of updates this month. I had an unforeseen injury come up and it's knocked me on my ass literally.
2 weeks ago, in a poor attempt to get more fit I was playing baseball and tore my Achilles tendon in two pieces. It's been a bit of a nightmare. It's a painful injury with a ridiculously long recovery. I see a specialist on Thursday and hope to get more info about how that will go and if I will be getting surgery. At 46 I imagine it would not be something they will do. From what I've researched it's anywhere from 6-12 months and there is a chance I may not fully heal. It sucks, what else can I say?
I'm grateful I didn't injure my drawing hand, that would be devastating. I'm also grateful that in Canada the medical expenses are covered... the downside being that the healthcare system is slow and not always the best. For instance I was in emergency after it happened for 9.5hrs and it'll be 20 days before I see a specialist. Not ideal but again it's free.
For the past few weeks I've only been able to sit and work for short periods of time. 2-4hrs a day. Sitting starts to become uncomfortable and I have to go elevate my leg to relieve the pain and discomfort. It's times like these I wish I was able to draw on an iPad but I'm too much used to my large cintiq and drawing from my shoulder it makes drawing anything decent on the ipad a real struggle.
I had two comic cons planned this month and I had to cancel both. It's hard not to have that extra income as well.
I'm not sure how long it will go on like this but it's a problem because I can't work as much and it makes it harder to support my family. So I just want to express how thankful I am for all your support on Patreon. Those who subscribe, make it a lot less of a burden when I can't put in the work hours at my desk. I really appreciate it.

So sorry to hear about your injury! My dad actually had the same thing happen and he himself is a doctor. Supposedly they told him it's actually better to happen natural as a lot of times people get surgery to recreate it. But I'm hoping you heal fully and quickly!
Oof, that sounds real nasty. Take all the time you need to recover. Wish you all the best.
Thank you!
Ouch. Been there with a broken leg before so... I do feel your pain. Take the down time to enjoy family as much as you can.
I appreciate it. It's such a hassle to be down a limb.
Wishing you a speedy recovery!! Take the time to rest & heal, it's important!
Thank you for your support. Means a lot!
